Not have a chance to take it out door yet. I've been so busy with programming recently. Maybe after the new year I will have more time. My Pantiger has new problem popup everyday, that's why I'm thinking of getting a new ZTZ-99A

I always torture test my tanks before doing anything else...try to run them over 5 different terrains once they pass that's when I start messing with the exterior...Have to admit though....some don't pass all five...the fifth is probably the toughest...the main thing is the tracks don't come off...and they can climb over things pretty easily...turn and do the normal stuff as well
I hate the ZTZ lol...and I'm not sure you won't have the same issues you are having with your Pantiger ...Your chassis on the Pantiger should handle just about everything....the one that I had running and a Tiger with the same chassis could negotiate all five terrains easily ....I still have my Tiger...that is one of my favorite runners...It's currently going through some revamp work...reason I didn't post any pictures of it ...but it still runs solid
Just as a suggestion...instead of the ZTZ...have you thought of getting a Sherman?....they have really good ground clearance so can negotiate any bumpy surfaces ...the bogies are totally isolated...so waterproofing is probably the simplest of all tanks ...the best thing is they look great ...They are also one of the current models that come with the3rd gen 2.4 gig rig

I understand that you guys love WWII tanks due to their historical values. I'm the other hand, I love modern tanks. I love long, flat tanks that crawl over obstacles better short, tall tanks. My favorite tanks, and of which models I wanna have are ZTZ-99A (not the earlier ZTZ-99), Leopard 2A6, M1A2, T-90. I can't own all of them at once. Maybe I will procure them one after another but the later maybe just stock models for display, no need upgrade package (save cost).

Personally, I don't like Sherman. I believe the Sherman suffered heavy casualty facing the German Tiger and Panther during WWII. I saw a video on YouTube that more than 10 guys running different models including off-road trucks on an opened terrain. The terrain could be considered as mountainous for the models. Sherman suffers rollover the most due to its narrow, tall profile.

Not really....a lot of the other members are in it for what you say...Me?????????......Nah....I buy my tanks according to an Anime Girls Und Panzer...they do have some modern tanks in it...but none that are available in 1/16th scale...with the exception of Tamiya's Type 10....great looking tank...but it's had some bad reviews...enough to put me off the rather high 2000 dollar US price tag

The Shermans did suffer a great number of casualties...thing is...there were so many of them out there...used by almost every allied country...so actually the Sherman is an outstanding tank...still well liked and honored...I for one am glad so may manufacturers have finally made them available to the 1/16th community...You might want to go take a look at some of the posts regarding the Sherman...right out of the box the thing can be run in water up to the openings for the axles...Waterproof that...and you have a pretty tight platform....it would also be a great battler for your Pantiger

Modern tanks have their place IMO...I am also glad they are being produced in greater numbers and varieties ...Currently in 1/16th I have the Pro model M1 Abrams...it's a great looking and performing model ...thought about the Chally...but I'm putting that on the backburner for now

I don't think anyone will go out and purchase a hoard of tanks lol...as you can see for yourself on the board...many do "changes" of some sort ...So a gaggle of them would be quite the handful

Anyway...glad you got your...Pantiger going...good luck on future purchases

A lot of the Sherman's bad rap comes from the early days of the war. Pretty much all of the deficiencies were resolved later. Suspension, penatration, ammo storage, and armor.

Not to mention how many used them...but yup ..you are definitely on point....there used to be a documentary on the subject via Youtube...where they had statistics on the destruction of both tanks comparatively ...one testimonial is almost an exact quote of what you said

My plan is:
1. To have a running model: a model tank has value because of the real tank and the history behind it. This has nothing to do with my Pantiger because it is a model of no real tank. So, make it a good runner. In short, the biggest problem of my Pantiger is its controllability. I'm not sure if I should blame this on motors or electric or remote controller?

2. Model of my favorite real tank: The more the better as long as my wallet is deep enough. It can run but not necessary to run best. My favorite tanks: ZTZ-99A, M1A2, Leopard 2A6 (should preserve this for a Tamiya purchase).

3. WWII tanks: nice to have but not a must.

For the above 3 points, I choose the ZTZ-99A with best configuration that I can do. The price is near a Tamiya. The point is to combine point 1 and point 2 to make a good runner of my favorite model.

You have to stick to your guns Steelbird...The Sherman was just a Suggestion....After all...you're not buying it for me..you are buying it for yourself
The most important thing is to have fun....When my M1 arrived...it didn't take much time to install the battery ...take outside and run it full blown... ...flattening out just about everything it hit....More fun came later as some detail work and minor tuning was done...but all in all a great time was had

Hope your ZTZ will bring you joy....and also your Pantiger as you turn out the rough spots

Alpha, thank you for your concerns and suggestions. I'm planning a trip to Thailand. I've never purchased anything online and not sure if those Thai guys can be trusted. The total cost is about $600 though so it's better if bring my beloved tank back on my own, and I also buy something for my Pantiger. The biggest problem of the Pantiger now is driving at low speed. So I think I need a retard gearbox and a good controller.

This tank makes me change my mind a little. does it worth more with similar money?

LOL...Another tank that doesn't have any appeal to me lol.....With that said though...I do like the gearboxes and the motor...looks like the same hull DNAR is using on his build ...you might want to pop in on his thread or PM him on the performance...looks pretty Sweet...700 US I'd buy it if it were a different tank
