Pictures of this thing are hard to come by...

I managed to find a side view of the T26E4 that was sent to Europe.



It looks like it used the stock sprockets, and not the ones that come with the T81 tracks from Impact.

I need to do more digging...

Nice work on making them, but plasticard and the hardened nylon that HL use have one distinct quality between them, the HL ones won't be smooth cylinders after two hours of running round a muddy field. That said I have no idea how you managed to make those sprocket teeth so perfectly...and don't tell me that you did it with an old kitchen knife and a pair of false teeth, cos I am not going to believe you!

Lol no its easy ..use a circle cutter from the " works " .. £1.99 glus ethe disk in place and the use a pair of plastic card snipps to remove a " V " between the trath ..the use two different sided round files to shape
works justas well on metal hl sprocketa too

And did u not see that we put a man on Mars ..and left him there by mistake ...but it's OK now as that found water ..so he can make tea ...all good then !

Roboticus, thanks for those pics, that means that they must have used standard sprockets and T81 tracks, though the sprockets must be off something else...I wonder what that was? I could cheat a bit and simply sand the cleats off the HL tracks....At a distance they would look almost the same....

Yes there is as the pitch of the T81 are different ..but of I remember right a set are about £145 plus postage and import tax ...so almost £200 a set ...is it worth it ? ......

Well, the Super Pershing is kinda weird. It was literally a pre-production prototype (T26E1) that they rigged the long 90mm into the turret, and called it the T26E4. So, there are many things on the Super that are odd, and those sprockets might have been a one-off for that tank specifically.

Plus, there was a second Super Pershing that was built off of a T26E3 (IIRC) that had better hydraulics, and didn't need the springs on top. It also used a two piece projectile that used a shorter, fatter charge.

Errr...no. lol.

I can get pretty close with a bit of skullduggery, so will take the cheapskate route.

You might also look into the KV-1 tracks. They are similar, and would probably be easier to modify to fit the look.

Also, that thing is looking sweet!

I took the plunge, got the rotary tool and a flap sander, and ended up looking like a chimney sweep.....

Before I go any further, I just want to say a huge thanks to SASSGrunt (MIke) for his offer to send me the research material that he has on this build, the links to other sites, and the plans for some parts. Just having clear photo's of the original was a huge assistance and enabled me to unravel the secrets of how they modified this tank.
