It's getting that way. I saw that there is also now X-carve, a desk top CNC machine!Woz wrote:Looking good.
Guess there's no need to buy anymore kits when you can just print your own.

Re: Katy
It's getting to the point now where I am thinking about doing a tank. I know I can do wheels, the turret should be do-able, it's the lower hull that would be a challenge, so would probably have to modify an HL one.

Re: Katy
Reprinted the rear box as one piece, only one small wonky corner which happened in the very final stages. It took 14 hours even with the speed upped a bit, went to bed after 4 hours of it, got up this morning and it was still going?? No idea why it wanted to print it the way it did, it was only a base and 4 vertical sides, nothing fancy at all, it was just the sheer size of it I guess.
It does look a lot better than the original one, but next time I am going to use jolly old styrene and make it in about 15 minutes??
Currently printing the hefty chassis rails....

Re: Katy
Starting to take shape now. It definately won't be RC, for one thing the chassis would have to be designed differently and I would have to know what was being used to propel it, steer it etc, so that the parts could be printed to fit. The quality of the surfaces are nowhere near what I would want on an RC model of mine, so I am going to turn into a bit of battlefield scenery that will look ok from a distance.

Re: Katy
Got a bit more done, started off as Sand Yellow, but it looked like an ice cream van, so changed it to beige, which looks a bit more like it. Need to nail the roof and cab roof on, filler, add the steering wheel and seat, then do some detailing and weathering, and it will be done. I have another project that I want to start so I am keen to get this one off the workbench. It is 99.99% 3D printed, so not too bad really.

W.W.,
'Katy' turned out really great. That's a solid vehicle for a super detail job. Even as it sits, it would grace any scale battlefield with some British flavor.

Painless

Re: Katy
Thank you kind sir, your comments are always much appreciated. There is still a bit to do, to make it look both completed and 'used', but it should all be done within a few days.

Re: Katy
A quick whizz round with the airbrush, and it looks a bit more 'used' now. Still need to put the red crosses/white backgrounds on it at some point.
I should really do the radiator properly, and it still needs headlights and the back step, rear mudguards, canvas doors etc, but I will see what time I have.
