Painless, good idea, I think I actually have some in my spares box haha
here's a bit more for greengiant (ps great pic for your avatar

)
I would strongly advice TESTING your motors before going further, as once they are in they are pretty much inaccesible. Be very CAREFFUL about fitting of small parts, gears, not to confuse direction, L and R. There are a few picture ERRORS in the manual that I have pointed out

Here's the next step. I did a workable suspension using original parts (simpler than the spring modified version). If there's anything that needs explaining let me know

OK dunno if anyone is really following this. Upcoming, painting, disaster strikes, Tamiya's amazing after sales parts service. Fantastic kits tho', but the painting takes me months, more on that later...

Good Morning,
I am following along. ;o) I appreciate the photos and attention to the build. I ocassionally get dragooned into building in 1:35 but have not done RC in that scale since the Tiger1 we spoke of earlier. The build I am working on now, a Taigen\Profiline StuG III B was set in motion by how nice Tamiya's 1:35 kit of that type went together. Please keep up the pics, Puramo. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Painless,
thanks a lot for the interest.

My 2cents worth is this kit is really great for 1/35 enthusiasts.

The finish is excellent, but for the Sherman the fit is really TIGHT

and you need to go slowly, following the intructions ruthlessly, being careful to put glue where it is needed and not anywhere else for the moving parts.
For all the wires plugged into the MC unit they must be very flat and tight

, all tucked away or the upper hull will not sit tight and this causes the turret to deconect from the rotating ring
Do not get any paint or varnish on the turret ring portion of the hull

(I made this mistake) and make sure once the turret is glued to it's ring that it is as smooth as baby's bottom

and light as a feather, if not it will jam and it's very frustrating to fix
Getting the IR unit with the rubber washer in for me was cruel

, it was a really tight fit, so I suggest several dry runs before you knock all the little bits off your tank struggling to get it on. (You do not glue this part it can be removed)

Puramo, that is a work of art, god knows how you are doing it on 1/35 scale, I struggle seeing parts on 1/16 scale.
looking forward to seeing her built and running.
Regards
Martyn.

Blade
I saw your KT and am really jealous

that's what I'd like to do too when I can get my little paws on one. Thanks for the support.
This is the first time I've done a build report like this so I hope it makes some kind of sense, maybe I put too many pix of what's obvious and not enough of those crazy little moments. One funny story. I glued this really annoying

set of tracks in a box and set them in my tweezers to dry. Went off for lunch and forgot about them. Came back and a while later realised they were not around. I gave my cats a lecture about touching other people's stuff.
Ransacked the room, pockets, checked the floors everywhere. Finally gave up and scratch built the part. Just as I got up to finish I saw the piece in the corner of my eye. It must have 'pinged' out of the tweezers bounced off something and flown into a pot full of rubber bands on a shelf.
Still I finally glued the extremely annoying piece in place.
For the rest. Same problem, those crazy little clip washers on the idler wheels also have a liking to interstellar space travel, ie 'pinging' off into the stratosphere and then to be hoovered up by the loving trouble and strife... you all know what I mean

OK two things that have made things amazing

since I rediscovered military modelling, the Tamiya HG superfine airbrush (but the Iwata is better) and a very big shout out to

Vallejo water based model colours - imo they are amazing

( a little more than Tamiya paints) so good to use, sooooooooooo easy to clean, not for some I undertand but if you don't want thinners and stuff around boy are they good
Before I post any more. I really wanted to do this salt chipping technique and try to replicate the box art. ie the paint looks somewhat like an oil painting on canvas. I could have done a monochrome thing with shading and will do it one day I guess, but I just had to do this.
So I did a base coat in white, then a coat in yellow, then added salt and did a coat in green, then washed, then a coat of matt varnish, then added salt and did another green and so on and so on and so on until I got the effect I wanted. It took a long time and I blew salt all over the room but I got what I wanted and am satisfied. Maybe that finish is not what some people like but it's what I wanted to do...
here's the vid I learned from
