Don't forget the batteries also! What happens to them when it gets damn cold out? They can't put out the amount of power they were supposed to and half the time would be dead due to the cold.
Great point to bring up,
the Rus had those compress air start systems as back-up!

Wonder if the Rus have a different CCA spec for their batteries :D

Its proberbly already been tried but I thought I would ask.
Hi well hope that answered your question :haha: on smokers i make my own more compact and with a micro fan with a refined oil .. i spent months perfecting the thing but got it to work now fitted to 8 tanks with no problems even have one in my half-track :D they look more realistic and as for vehicles smoking even a b,m,w, new car smokes when you put your foot down :haha: happy tanking Ray.

Most tanks smoke on startup and when the engine is under load or hard acceleration. Even the turbine in the Abrams. The problem with the smokers I've seen is that the do not react in this way. Personally I like the look of a plum of smoke behind a model although the HL units put out so little smoke they are pretty worthless.

Rayzzer-b, I'd be interested in your smoker design. I've just built mine using wire wound resistors suggested by strmnd52, I believe, and tested it yesterday and found it hardly smokes at all. Tanker 242 said I should use baby oil as that works better than the 3 in1 and HL smoker oil I was using. I was somewhat disappointed about this, as it took me quite a while to find the correct resistors in the UK. It seems like it's not getting hot enough. Have tried using wire from an old hairdryer, but apparently was using too little with a low resistance and potential to fry the RX-18 board. I've just installed a new IBU2 so don't won't to burn that !! Electronics are not really my strong point and it's a while since I remember how to use Ohm's law.
