LOL! And they wouldn't let you build it? That's so wrong!

If I win the lottery I plan to go buy a real King Tiger and rebuild it. I doubt the 88 would fire even if it could I don't think I'd be able to find ammo for it.

thing is, we do not want to relive the shadow of the 1962 revolt that happen in my country, people will not be able to make weapons willy nilly. but i will try to put up with the permission gettings but not right now.

Wow man that's crazy. Did a little Wikipedia reading and yeah I can understand why now, martial law since 1962 combined with Islamic Sharia law, I'd already have been a dead man years ago!

yes, keeping it like this has its plus side, you dont have people who are dumb to abuse weapons and shoot at each other here, murder is a rare case also.

once i can convince the higherups that this build is purely recreational and also for technical/practical skill building for basic mechanical engineering, it would be fun.
as long as people do not abuse this trust and use the machine itself by harming others with it.

Couldnt you sell the idea as a gocart with a tank shell?

Engine wise, I would have gone for a motorcycle engine

Would they let you build it even then? Historically governments like that aren't too interested in someone other then themselves advancing in anything. Unless Wikipedia is WAY wrong which is completely possibly.
Either way I wish you luck in trying to get them to let you continue your build.

i could, for personal use, but for commercial usage i may need to apply for a brand license to get it approved. i'll just have follow proper channels and such to get by. :)

Do they let you own guns? Not hating on you or your country I'm curious.

only the police force and the military have their service firearms, civilians are forbidden to own any sort of firearms. even with a proven firearms license from outside the country.

this actually helps, only because the crime rate here is very very low so.
but, civilians can have blades, swords and hand to hand combat weapons only and purely for home defense, proven that there is a license to own that and also in a group that specializes in martial arts and arts trained with the said blades.

others like bolo machetes are only used as gardening tho. i own a 2 1/2 foot long serrated back machete that i use for trekking and brush clearing too also serve as a home defense weapon.
