Good Morning,
You've certainly put in the work to make this a solid and reliable tank, used as a Battler or as a Display runner. Following along.
regards,
Painless

Still waiting on them to arrive. They are somewhere in Russia right now, waiting on Rob at ETO to give me an update.

Until then more cosmetic work - need to do the otherside of the turrets track link holders and the final weld lines on the hull. Once I get that gear box in I will build an internal plastic card box for the electronics to sit in and some kind of internal frame to cover the gaps in the sponsons since I'm leaving the fenders off.

In anticipation of the gearbox weight, I added a panel to the back of the hull, behind the back plate and filled a 3mm gap with filler a few lead weights to act as a counter balance.

Slow is good, part of the reason for me wanting to do another Tamiya King Tiger is I rushed the first one and made some mistakes I find I can't live with.

Upgrading a 1A4 is something that isn't cheap if you want to buy all the parts. For reference though: http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/index ... th=2_4_254. That is the best place for most modern armour. The prices are pretty steep though, they're top quality but you can buy a 2nd hand car for less than some of the kits they sell there!

Small update:

I took off most of the welds I did. Going to countersink them instead so they look more like the real thing.
Also realise that i'm missing two parts that come in the "metal parts' bag with the plates for the idlers. These hold the turret and ring together. However the static doesn't have them. So another thing to order.

So my gearboxes arrived! They are both big and solid!

Two immediate things I noticed were the screw holes in the bottom were in the wrong place and there is no central mount any more which leaves some question about there ability to stay in the tank.

If they're bolted in four places then they should be plenty stable in the chassis, I fact as they are they should stiffen the front end of the chassis.

Yeah, i'm hoping that will be the case. Lining up the holes to drill out is proving to be a pain because the two side parts are not perfectly square.

I added some more shots:

That's a pain! Worth informing ETO as they're made locally to them, they should be a drop in fit!
