UPDATE time again. Its been 18 days since my Super Smoker II went up in smoke and I have yet to receive the new one promised to me by builder and no reply to the e-mails I've sent him beyond the initial reply with promise of a new one.

So far from my original order to now its been 1 month, not exactly the fastest service but I'm still hopeful. We'll see and I'll continue with updates until I either get a replacement or I'm told I'm not getting one. Now I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait and if it'll be worth it or not.

Ok just received an e-mail back that it shipped out yesterday from New York so I should have it by Tuesday at the latest. I'm gonna give it a test in my Tiger but I think it'll end up in my King Tiger build that I'm currently collecting parts to do. My Tiger will get another Super Smoker IF and I do stress IF it works as advertised. I also have a bottle of smoke fluid from Mega Steam to try out, I'm hoping the combo of the Super Smoker II and Mega Steam smoke fluid yields the results I want.

Thanks for the review. Will await the next installment!

As for the Polish Tarr units. If you guys who have them have the time to post a review with pics or vid I think it would be a great addition to the forum.

I am mainly interested to know if they are any less hit and miss filling as I am simply useless with the stock smokers!! :{

The Tarr Mk2 I have is pretty solid. It's not proportional but it works well enough and can be easily taken apart if overfilled. I have no complaints.

Ok so I got home from work today and my NEW Super Smoker II was waiting for me, I plugged it into my King Tiger for a test run and nothing. WTF? Not AGAIN! So I re-charge the battery and put it in all topped off and still nothing. ??? So I went and got my Tiger because thats what it was built for in the first place plugged it in and it works just fine, put it back in the King Tiger and nothing. It MUST be the 2.4 gig set up doesn't have enough output to crank the fan up at idle gonna contact the builder to see if he has any ideas.

But regardless I've run it for more then 2 hours all over the neighborhood and so far so great! No nuclear melt downs just lots of thick white smoke. The unit is labeled 3.1.1 on the circuit board where the first one I got was 3.0.1 so the board is upgraded. The fan is also thicker and seems to move more air which is good. Also the body of the smoker is now a flat black instead of a gray color and the exhaust tubes and fill tubes are made with thicker walled tubing so all in all it looks like he improved the units all around and made them of heavier and thicker parts.

Also included in the instruction sheet is now a warning that the units MAY catch fire if "improperly used" but seeing how the kevlar wick in mine was STILL WET but had been burned thru I'm not sure how I could have improperly used it. He has also included other warnings and disclaimers saying he is not responsible for any damage or injury that may occur due to improper use.

So it would seem that he took what happened to mine seriously and has upgraded his design and it also sound like he talked to a lawyer as well. Getting ready to head out with a fresh battery and refill of smoke fluid to see how it does but so far it works perfectly.

My first one I'm gonna chalk up to shit happens and move on. I'm gonna have to give the go ahead for other member to get one as well. However if you own a 2.4 gig setup you may want to email the maker to see if there is a different setup for them.

Good news jackalope and a good review. One thing you didn't mention however, how's the noise on this one compared to the stock units? Thanks

Joe

Joe,

Sorry for missing that one. Ok noise is almost non existent compared to the original unit because this one uses a small fan to push the smoke out of the exhaust pipes. The factory fan for the Taigen 2.4 gig RX is louder then the fan on the Super Smoker II unit.

Just did a test of the new replacement unit indoors with the Mega Steam smoke fluid and HOLY CRAP it makes SO much smoke you can not run it in doors using the Super Smoker II and Mega Steam! I had to open all the windows and put the window fans in, turn the ceiling fans on, opened the front and back doors but it wasn't enough to stop the smoke detectors from going off in both the kitchen and the up stairs! SERIOUS smoke here folks!

Thanks jackalope for the quick reply. I'm going to write him and see if he can make one for my T-34 with the 2.4ghz.
