Post delivered the other main component of this tank today, the Taigen KV-1 in metal. I unpacked it and tested to make sure everything works. Torsion Bar Suspension is very nice and definitely under load in the rear as others have said but not awfully so. Since I am taking it all apart anyway for paint and detailing, I will beef it up a little in the rear. Gear boxes are nice with bearings and the layout inside is interesting with the smoker mounted on a frame hanging from the upper hull. Tracks are very beefy and I have found a working idler adjuster and mount that I will replace this stock one with. I didn't grow too attached to the tank as it is since it is about to to be taken down and made different. The tank reeks of gear oil and Soviet attitude. ;o) Pics:

Good Morning,
Billpe, yessir, it came painted as such. Taigen has some really good airbrush guys at their facility. Check out this Taigen Panther build for more nice stock paint from those folks: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=11437

Alpha,
Once I get the KV-1 turret off next week, I'll drop the KV-2 one into place for a sneak peek before I take it all apart. My weekend this week got co-opted by some family business so I will be away from Fri. - Mon.

It looks pretty good, straight out the box, painted running tank!

Good Morning,
Tom, hey! no fair! * chuckles* You've had yours longer. I was going to glom onto you for ideas as you worked on it. ;o) It will be challenging since I haven't worked on a torsion bar suspension before. Here's to Fun!

Came back after four days away to some nice stuff in the Post. Still waiting for a bit to come in along with the possibility of ordering a Corleis suspension set as well. The Asiatam system on the tank is a wonder to behold in motion and has that greatly desired 'already paid for' thing going for it so we shall see. Pics:
