Extra cool work! When will you add the outers back on the road wheels or is that a paint em' separately thing? She is really coming along nicely!
warm regards,

Exactly Painless... I want to paint the inside of the wheels first... if I glue them now.. I might not get a clean application of paint to the inners... the wheels have real rubber.. but can't be removed so that's the only way I can think of to do it ...the fun thing is she runs... even without the wheels :haha:

Having fun with this one :D

Hey Mark... the best thing to do if you don't want to invest in the DvD... Is to Google it... then stream it instead of downloading it... my nephew did that when I told him about the anime....there are a few pop ups... but most of the sites are harmless
It's fan subbed... actually much better than the DvD

Good Luck and Enjoy Panzer Vor Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Image

Some parts came in yesterday...
Image
I should have got these from Forgebear.... I assume they are Taigen...problem...unlike the Mato hatches Forgebear sells... there are no hold down bolts on the hinges ... they have to be glued...I am really questioning the quality of Taigen... they may have metal parts on their Tanks...but if they are glued on... they can be broken off  ...not sure if it will be worth the effort to use these... lesson learned

Image

Very nice barrel..well made... will not use this for the Panzer IV as it is meant for IR...will probably use to replace the barrel on my Stug :D

Good Afternoon,
I went to the IMEX\Taigen site and compared their set with what you have here and this set has more detail than the Taigen offering I found there. There is no handle on that large hatch and on the other large hatch, the grill is solid, not cut out and the hatch edges are rounded on one corner... I'm not sure what this means but when I receive metal that I am expected to glue on, I drill a hole and pin it so that I can drill a hole in the surface it goes on and have a pin to glue it in place with. The barrel looks nice at least.
regards,
Painless

Hey there Painless... they are taigen.. Welsh dragon carries the same ones under AsiaTam and Taigen
The difference is Asiatam is ala carte you have to buy two sets

Anyway Painless..I made a mistake... Dave carries the same set... apparently it's the only set on the Market if I can think of a viable "strong" way to use them.. I might.. thing is... and this is an advisory to others as well... the Hatches molded on the Heng Long actually look better  ...think hard about these...they aren't that great IMO... Money burned... Lesson Learned ;)

Thanks Painless

18 Hrs ... And now my Panzer IV is a Panzer IV  Something always bothered me about this Panzer IV ... it's a nice tank straight out of the box...but there was something about it..... Since I've done more research on the tank... I found out what it was...It's the turret... Heng Long put a Panzer III turret on a Panzer IV chassis... along with a longer different barrel :O
Anyway ... this is the result... lengthened the turret little under 1/4 inch around the armor plate....redid the mantlet

Also mixed up a batch of paint... what do you all think ?

Apologies for not having pictures of the process when I did the mod to the turret... It was quite extensive... and pretty much a spur of the moment decision to make the change... as initially I had thought I would just mod the mantlet
These are some before pictures from my Hazardous material thread...
Image
Image
This is one of the photos that prompted the change
Image

There was a lot of work done... the machine gun was moved the left vision port.. the armor plate had to be adjusted in four different ways... locking pins relocated to mimic the stock mountings...all to get the side covers closer to the mantlet as well as close the gap that exposed the firing mechanism

You can see the extension by comparing the distance of the screws on the top of the turret

Happy Tanking

Alpha,
I'm painting up some 1/35 kits in Girls und Panzer colours. I want to paint the panzer IV d/h version with shurzen. Any idea of what colour the tank should be. Are the artists trying to portray a red primer base? Looks like dark brown.
Other tanks i'm painting,
Tiger 1
King tiger
Panther
Hertzer
Lee
Stuf 111
Porsche tiger
38T

Putting a bit of colour into my collection.

Hi John... Personally I don't look at what other modellers do as far as colors are concerned
Image
This example of the build model made in Japan...IMO is not correct...but depicts what you describe with the red primer base... I look at the videos on YOUTUBE
like this one for the colors
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pd1-RrGCrE
the color is closer to a dark earth...so if I were airbrushing her... I'd go with a lighter perhaps gelb or gray base coat ...you have to remember...the tanks are refurbished after every match... that paint was applied before the KUROMORIMIRO match ...so most probably the base was gray :D

GOOD LUCK JohnImage
