There are variants fynsdad ...but not as many as the Sherman... so there may not be the challenge there for you

ps... just noticed this is an unusual variant... most of the other Panzer IVs I've found that sported the short barrel... had the single side turret hatch

Good Morning, Gentleman,
The one I have barely qualifies as RC. It is a 21st Century model from years ago. Diecast and plastic with decent detail but in that 'just smaller enough to notice' 1/18th scale. I've taken it apart some time ago for maint. and the gun elevation is a simple ring with high spots that the tab on the inner barrel rides on so that as the turret turns, the gun goes up and down. *chuckles* It has forward and reverse, left and right via two 'sticks' on the simple controller and a primitive sound chip that cannot be adjusted and is on at maximum volume causing severe distortion. The tracks are a heavy duty continuous molded rubber type and there is no working suspension. The sound can be turned off via switch on the bottom of the tank but if you do so , you lose your cannon fire sound effect. I considered going to the effort of putting a sound pot on and working lights and a real gun elevation via servo but at the time was unable to locate any electrical information for the tank and even after that there remained the issue of the 'no suspension'. HL brought out their Pz lll's and Pz IV's not long afterwards so that model remains a mostly stock, interesting toy. Like Fynsdad, I am feeling the need for a good Pz IV now a days. Probably one of the metal early Afrika Corp types that HL sells. All of the HL Pz IVs are relatively cheap and easy to find on almost every site that sells the brand. I am really looking forward to you re doing yours. There is so much available for them out there.

Quite a few on Ebay Painless... and you benefit from the free shipping... dang that makes me jealous But I think overall... they did a good job... I didn't go for the full metal version ....I learned a lesson from my Stug... the tracks can't be adjusted...so not wanting to take the chance of them being too tight I got the one below the full metal version...didn't know about MatoMart back then...theirs might be the one to get...as it comes with Mato tracks

Thank you, Sir. ;o) I didn't know that the idler on the full metal version could not be adjusted. Surely some folks like Schumo or Tank Modelbau have addressed that glaring flaw? Even the KV-1 hulls by Asiatam have a working idler adjuster now.

Hey Painless...they do make a tensioner....I'm not sure how it works...But design wise it isn't as impressive as the Panzer III

It looks like they would steal away from the detail on the rear bulkhead..reason I prefer just playing with the track links

Anyway...started to do some work on her ...I think I've done enough homework ... and have evaluated..what she needs...
