It was a leftover from a Wise man who bore gifts ....Actually sassgrunt... who is really a wealth of knowledge like you Scalawag ...we were just having a conversation ... and were discussing the Girls und Panzer SHERMAN ...me saying I wanted to do a conversion ... and wham... He said he had a hull he could part with
It was a very fortunate coincidence

It's a very nice hull... all the hatches open even the engine compartment and 95% of all the details and the hull are white metal
which adds to the weight... which I do appreciate on this tank

Have a great day scalawag

Thanks Alpha I think I might well have to look into one of these later in the year. It certainly seems a good buy for what you get in the box.

Thanks again

It's really a nice looking tank... and the model itself is a pretty good price if you can get it under 200 ... because in comparison with other 1/16 th scale Statics it does have it's benefits as far as RC conversion is concerned...and is just as detailed as any other manufacturer's offerings in the scale

the upper hull including the turret is all metal... the rest is plastic...personally I would have difficulty tearing it apart...reason I was so enthused by sassgrunts offer
to which I am so very thankful for

There are little things that really don't match my style of modelling... but the pros outweigh the cons...it's a great hull... and will fit perfectly to the Heng Long chassis
a bonus to getting the kit.. if you have a home field where you play... the FoV Sherman comes with some imitation cross metal tank barriers :D

Image

The drawback that I saw is that the model is in it's second release... and is in limited production...on the flipside of that... is it also means there are first gens floating around out there... I saw two before Christmas on Ebay starting at 80 dollars Us...I'm not sure what they ended at as I didn't follow the auctions...but they are out there.. :D

Good Luck 2014 Scalawag

:haha: Cummon Mike... you're just being modest :D ...so many would benefit from viewing your builds...I know when I look at them ... I can see all the craftsmanship and thought you put in ...reason when I saw your mod to your SHERMAN.. I was a little frightened of attempting the mod....What you have done is nothing short of amazing... and you really should show them off
But I won't push lol... at your leisure my friend :D

Hi ALPHA.
I wasn't sure date mistake or were you going for this.

Part of the Battle for Caen. On the 4th July D-Day +28 the start of Operation Windsor
Four battalions of the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division, commanded by Major-General Rod Keller. (His actions were severely criticized).
The Canadian attack made against Carpiquet airfield, and the nearby village defended by young SS of the 12.SS Panzer Division.
The 8th Infantry Brigade succeeded in capturing Carpiquet by mid-afternoon on the 5th July.
You have a choice of Sherman’s, even Hobart’s Funnies, Churchill Crocodile flame-throwers and petard-tanks etc..

"Why piddle about making porridge with artillery and then send men to drown themselves in it for a hundred yards of No Man's land?
Tanks mean advances of miles at a time, not yards."
General Percy Hobart.

That looks like some valuable information Panther :D Thank you... when I have more time I'll reference them
But you should know be by now... though I will try my best to model a version of the SHERMAN... what will be represented and storming the beach will be in the guise of
GIRLS UND PANZER ;)

Which probably would have set the German defenders aback .... but who knows :haha:

you are a scholar and a gentleman Panther ... thank you

ALPHA

PS.. It was I who made the date mistake... don't know what I was thinking of ...apologies my friend :{

ALPHA I hope you send in your neighbour, the one with the recoil action, she would have the German troops surrendering in no time.

The 4th July. I was up with that when you posted it, as the 50th state it is one of your celebration days. Easy slip. ;)

You have to remember who you're speaking too Panther... I'm like the tin man... still full of rust...everything in baby steps :haha:
If I'm lucky to have enough time and nerve... this build will not only have recoil but IR...so pray for me sir ;)

Have a great day Panther

I found something that might interest Scalawag and Canned.... you all are looking for a hull
Image

http://www.hobbylink.tv/building-an-acc ... 50-sherman

found this while browsing through google... I've heard the name Nick Aguilar before...the hull this guy used to mod his tamiya looks like a good replica.. and much cleaner than the FoV hull...thing is there is no site to order from... all I was able to find was this
http://www.vqwarbirds.com/index.php?osC ... 1d1b894c5b

So I am not certain the guy is even into tanks anymore

Good luck gentlemen
