We should start a pool on how long it lasts despite Dietrich's best efforts! :haha:

Hi Dietrich

I did my wheels exactly the same as you, but using the existing axles and star washers. I will have a remote charger lead in the side storage bin along with the volume conytol. The switch will be on the out in a recess between 2 of the bins for easy access.

It is a double pole double throw switch so that in the off position, you can plug the charger in to the flying lead in the storage bin to charge the battery, and the RX18 will be isolated. in the on position the charge lead will be isolated, with the power going to the RX18.

Luckily I am an electrician!

HI ALPHA,
My son ..IS..a Hellion...by the definition !

hel·lion (hlyn)
n.
A mischievous, troublesome, or unruly person.

.
What do you mean by a 'Hellion'.... :eh: ......adopting you.......HMM.....probably not.......But, thinking about it... you might understand the word.... NOOOoooooooo!!.....which my son DOESN'T
............even if we say 'Non' or 'Nein' .. :haha: ...although,On the other hand and a 'Plus side' you do have a nice selection of tanks that we could 'Manoeuver' around the garden :D
.
@Storky... Good idea with the switch Double Pole,Double Throw switch ..I am OK with that kind of 'Electrics' ......But how on Earth does a house wall light switch work, when you can turn it on at the bottom of the stairs and off again at the top !! .. 8O
.....I am not sure what a " staorage bin "... Is though?.....Is it one of the Plymufff ,'Dockyard Expressions'..Like sending the latest apprentice off to the Equipment Stores to get....
' A bubble for the spirit level, A long weight ( wait) or spotted paint' ... :D :haha:
.
EDIT :- PHIL.....We need photos of these extra....

We would need clarification on just "what" lasts... for that pool to fly dgsselkirk

Would Lasts.. means the durability of the tank?...looking upon my own life's experience at that age... if my memory serves me right... I'd say...three days tops :haha:

If Lasts addresses the patience and tolerance Dietrich will need... I would say ... it's undeterminable.. because he has already shown great patience in building this for his son... the tolerance will come once his son starts playing with it... running over peoples feet...flower beds...and chasing family pets....if and only if the tank survives the initial three days.... I'd say a week :haha:

If Lasts addressed the love and memories ..perhaps even the smiles and laughter that will come..I'd say ... FOREVER AND BEYOND

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY

Skirting board ladder, sky hooks, sparks for the grinder, tub of elbow grease etc. The storage bin is the bins on the side fenders of the HMAF tank that are currently screwed down, but will be hinged to allow ready access to the remote charging plug and the volume switch. Which I just happened to have taken photos of.
Storage bin minus the lid (Yet to be hinged) showing the remote charge lead and volume switch.

Nice Work Phil  .....You are way ahead of me and making me look S-L-O-W..... :haha:
.
I still have the bottom plate to fit and all the electronics to mount......Volume, On /Off switch charging port....AARRGGHHhhhhhhh.... I need my son to go out for a few hours to make up the ground !

More updates....a bit belatedly ... :{
All axles replaced with 'Threaded Bar' cut to length..with double locking nuts on one end and a ny-lock nut fitted to the other... carefully tightened to reduce side to side motion of the wheels to as little as possible ....
IMG_9064.JPG
.
Washers inside and behind the wheels to protect the hull...
IMG_9066.JPG
.
All wheels reattached to the axles and fitted to the hull..... Looks almost the same as before the wheels were made 'Independent' and free to rotate separately on the axle.

The diameter is 56.9mm.....
......which is quite a bit larger than the Tiger 1 wheel which is 49.5mm its a useful size increase for 'scratch building'....
Just as an addition a Tamiya King Tiger wheel is 49.8mm
......
So what would THIS look like with the larger wheels... ??

.
Yes I will make it in time for Crimbo.......But exactly what..' IT' will look like is another matter...... :haha:

Lol.....I've already been collecting the ' tanks ' for the road wheels ....the standard hl king tiger wheel fits in the outer hm force road wheel a treat

The only problem is i need 4 hm forces tanks just to scrap ! ....

Hey Dietrich... S-L-O-W needs to speed up to G-O G-O G-O :haha: only four days left ... the countdown is closing :O

though getting it to a primed state might have it's benefits... as you could allow your son to help you with the paint :D

Hi mcevoyi,
Please can I ask what you are collecting the wheels for ?...... The prices are still C H E A P for the wheels if You can pick them up at about £8.00 per tank !!! ...
.
After Crimbo there may be more for sale...especially after the '5 Minute Wonder' effect wears off.... :haha: ..... AND..of course 'Modern' kids seem to expect toys to 'DO EVERYTHING' ... 8O ....so something that you actually have to push along and go 'Brrmm Brrmm'... and 'Boom Boom' with may not be the Favourite toy, after a few hours !!
