Painless my hero, I trust all is well, If I see a photograph of the Heng Long design staff walking upon water I shall sell my modelling tools and take up fly fishing but I am confident that the various shortcomings in their products will leave me with the lifes work that ensures a lifetime that would make Methusulah look like a schoolboy. At the end of my report I wrote a resume.

And by the way, the Hobby-Boss-Tiger I mid version is the same as a kit of it with different decals.

My resume in short form:

- mid-version
- good looking
- good details
- horrible electronics
- weak gear
- very good plastic tracks
- much work to modify to change it into a running one

........................and I am fairly certain that it applies to ALL the model tank producers, including the mighty Tamiya......
Taking things to the 'Nth Degree' ....There are parts that are incorrect in all models, but it is fairly safe to say ..(On a scale of 'Diminishing Return') ..that the more money you pay the less there is to put right........ ......and the Less FUN that you have putting then right....Do you agree Shaun ?.

I don't know if Taigen is Taiwanese for Heng Long. It is possible I suppose since the Taigen tanks all seem to use the Heng Long molds but also have upgrades and features not offered on the HL tanks, such as Asiatam lower hulls, metal odd and ends and hand airbrushed paintjobs, etc. Everything being said, I'd still love to have one of those Torro High-End KV-2's.

Alb, it is the soul of our hobby, there is no point without the fun, although there are times when I have said a very rude word, put on my coat and headed toward the pub, but there have equally been times often in the early hours when some puzzle or problem suddenly becomes clear and the whole day is full of sunshine. You are so right about the more you pay the better the tank but as you also say they too have faults and that is where the reference books come in, my failings in that direction being well known, but the difficulty is the challenge, of course this where everyone around you gets bored when you point out the kind of fix you have put in that only another tank modeller would notice. have a great weekend old friend. shaun

Hey alpha I should have mentioned I was talking about the torro/WSN tiger. From the ones nick has at the club they seem to hold up well to use, it runs fine on grass with stock running gear. Nicks had his for two years and no issues. They come with decent closed pin plastic tracks and the details great. From a price point they can be had second hand for £40-60 and new for us see £100. You have to do just as much to a HL if you want metal running gear.

Yes... though the conversation has switched from the low end TORRO ... to the high end...I was still able to differentiate the difference... I'm sure the low end Torro works well... I just didn't like what I saw...and if the plastic is of the same composition as the T34... no way would I purchase it ... the tank is actually on sale on ebay... probably end up about 155 us which is equivalent to the mid range HL with smoke sound and plastic gearboxes

My personal preference would still side with the HL... I mean even the plastic handles are stronger on the HL... which on the WSN... will snap off at any level of pressure...meaning that Yes .. even though the detail on it might be more accurate... to make it durable enough to be handled all the time... you would almost have to strip everything off and replace it with metal ...which would also mean you are compromising the already thin plastic the hull is made of

Not to mention... that machine gun going off when the main gun is raised and lowered.... irritates me to no end

Man I can't tell you how much I wanted to take a Hammer to that puppy .... and it was only a video

To which I can say... at least HENG LONG put the machine gun operation not only in the right location... but on a separate circuit
