I saw the photo release on the Mato Home Site a while back and was very impressed. As a Canadian, the first thing I thought of was what fun to mod one into a Grizzly and even more fun to replicate the Firefly based on the Grizzly, on display at Camp Borden!  Is there a known release date yet?

One last, slightly related question...is good old Murphy connected to the new MatoMart Site? He is DEFINITELY great to work with!!!

Regards,

David
Yes I beleive he is.  Any pictures of the Grizzly Firefly??????

Ahh Ha James. Now I know why you have been as elusive as the Scarlet Pimpernel. Well done with your Sherman efforts my friend. I did question the outline of the cast hull around the headlight area. But having consulted my M4 Sherman Walk Around book, it seems ok. Or nothing that can't be improved with a bit of shaping.

Bump!

Putting this up for the new guys and those of us whose memories aren't so sharp anymore. Think this will put this first release from the Sherman Project in perspective with historical context.

I think we should wait and see what HL come up with, if they have any sense they will pay attention to the feedback from the Mato release and create something a bit more scale like. Bear in mind that they don't appear to have any qualms about close imitations of Tamiya's offerings. I am surprised that they haven't done that already.

It may be that they brought out the Panther before the Sherman as they knew that this would be a cheap 'new' tank to produce, they already had the lower hull from the Jagdpanther.

Time will tell I guess, I would find it hard to believe that with all of the progress that HL have made that they would take a giant leap backwards and bring out something like the Mato.

hi there wibbly !

i think the reason hl have not reporduced a copy of the sherman is the suspension ...of the tam .. its way too hard to ' copy ' too many working parts ..... unlike the tiger / panther....pershing .... i am also thinking that mato .. trumpeter . HL .. are just different tradeing names ..for one bigger company .. ..like ford own jaguar...land rover ... which is why the jag is full of ford mondaeo parts ..

i am told that the mato sherman is fitted with the old hl rx13 board ... and speaker ....same gun system as the pershing .. which is why the turret is too tall and too wide ...the sprockets apear to be from the buldog .....

i remember so well the cry when the pantiger showes its ugly face .. we were promised that things would get better .. i guess it did .. the a full on copy of the tam JP and now the Panther .... and i also see the listing for the kv2 just days after tam released the kit " .. another copy ....

now i will hold up my hand and say that mato did a nice job ...almost ....of the strumtiger .... but then copyed the king tiger ..... we have been promised the hunting tiger .. but that will be on a unmodified chassis .. so it will not be the correct lengh almost an 1. and 3/4 inches too short ...

so lets just face it .. unless were happy to pay a fortune for tam kitts ... or pay a fortune for after market upgrades ... then we should just be happy with second best ....we only get what we pay for ..... pay peanutts .. get junk

Seems to be a variety of opinions about the Mato Sherman,Is the Sherman discussed the same as this review by bubbajoexx or is their two on the market? Sax http://rctankwarfare.co.cc/forums/viewt ... f=1&t=3760

Lol, just the one. An old thread was revived to go with Bubba's, just to remind people what the original expected spec was.
