Hi.At the moment, you can make tracks of transport with the original King tiger tracks? For my E100, I ended the drawing of the tracks, and I'm waiting a response to machined them in brass, and after molded them in Zamac :problem: :problem: :problem:

the e100 tracks are very different from the king tiger tracks, because the suspension was out sidethe hull they were centered like this...

I am planing on using pvc slovent glue to make the hl tracks 62mm wide...I have not found any one that has 4 sets of tracks yet to do this. I looked into a couple jewlrey casters to make tracks and the price was around $2000 bucks. Chris has one of the model tank track makers that is going to make some for bout 1600 euros......I got into this hobby because Iwanted something that was cheeper than messing with cars so there is no way I spending that much on a set of tracks.

this is the look I am going for...

here is what my glue job looks like....

lol.....that's not the point....you want to pay 1600 euros for tracks for a inferred lazertag robot....knock your self out...I am making a e-100 based off of a henglong king tiger that will come in under 1000 US dollars that will look really close to the real thing. You forget the E-100 was designed to run with those 60mm thick fenders that would make the sides pretty much un-touchable with shaped charges. I know people love to leave off fenders but these things had mor armor than a panzer 3 turret.....look at this vidio....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uqsy1SMlSA4

did you notice that that e-100 had 11 road wheels on a side insted of 8?...what about how wide the tracks were under those fender?( they were taniya 50mm wide king tiger tracks insted of 62mm wide).

The problems you run into running the "correct" tracks are huge....you want to make longer axils for gear boxes? How about the suport for those axils because with out the extra support they will fail? Have you looked at the differance of the drive cogs and rear idlers?....they look nothing like a king tiger....look...rear idler

front cog...

I guess the point I am tring to make is how far do you want to go? With modeling you have to draw the line at some point. This is a heng long based E-100, that in its self should tell you I am not building a 4000-5000 dollar ir fighting tank.

sorry, i was not trying to be rude.....if I cam accross that way...my bad, it was not my intent.

Anyway, what gave me the idea for this was the duckbill look of the tracks. Made me think of panzer 3 winter tracks....If I start poping tracks with the 62mm, I will be able to go to 50mm king tiger tracks. I have even thought about just glueing duckbills on to the king tiger tracks, if done right it would net me half the width I need.

as for the resin tracks, I have never seen any that would hold up....any tricks you know of?

I had thought about casting my own but after reading this thread....

http://www.rc-panzerketten-forum.com/wb ... adid=22755

no way, that guy has way more skill than me and the tracks stopped his build....

as for track pins I am going to use piano wire....

the other problem would be how to deal with the drive shafts, the mato long shaft gear boxes are not long enough. I do not have a lath or mill.
