That's an interesting solution!
I have never even looked to see the prices of the Heng Long V7.1 (or the best place to buy one) - but it wouldn't surprise me if I could find a complete set (tx, rx,board) at a reasonable price?
Are the connections similar - would I need to change any of my wires and plugs?
......and do they come with a wiring diagram so I know where to fit everything?

Forgebear Tanks have them @£77.00 plus post, but soundset is for T90 and Tiger, They are great value and sound really good, I
have recently bought 5 of these sets from Dave and I am most pleased with them, If you message Dave I would imagine He will
be getting the 7,1 with the leopard/Abrams sound sets at some point

That is good info - I will contact Dave and ask him.
......I am assuming that the only problem with using the HL 7.1 system is that it will have no channel available for the Centurions cupola turning feature?

The HL7.1 has a slider which should work the copola. They really are a good simple unit. The only problem is you can not program the sound. Dave states on his web page that the ones he supplies do not have the slider for this option.

Yes, you need the proper 7.1 transmitter to use the extra servo.

I will start looking for adverts for a 7.1 combo that includes this slider.
Where is this slider positioned on the tx - is it on top? (I just need to know where to look for it).

Under the right hand stick.

You will have to make sure its a 7.1 transmitter, the 7.0 looks the same but on the back of transmitter it needs be badged as a 7.1
The front of the 7.0 transmitter looks the same but the slider is fixed and doesnt move.

There are some 7.1 transmitters that aren't marked like the one that came with my RC Kootai M1128 MGS.
