we have been busy, working hard on the yard, there is a recurrent hard work to maintain the ground features and we haven't finished it yet!

past Sunday we moved lots of wheelbarrows loaded with soil from here to there making new hills, also raking and sweeping all over the place to get rid of stones and pebbles, also pulling out weeds...

buy of course, we tested the flow of the river

the work to finish it goes on, we need to adjust the heigth of the banks but the watersheds is completed

well, we are advancing step by step... now we have in mind how to solve the problem with the irrigation (sprinkle irrigation) system so we can start seeding the grass...

Don't tell me you have found grass that only grows 1/16 the size of normal grass! Nothing would surprise me with you guys

LOL! not!

i've done a search of diferent varieties, looking for one that:

do not need too much water
resistant to heat and sun
resistant to shadow
resistant to diseases
low manintenance
fast germination
thin leaves
low growth
and do not look too much like grass!

for not to say that one of my mates is a gardener

we do not want to have a golf green carpet there, we want to have diferent sizes of patches, irregular, also that will aid to the soil retention with the roots...

so we will seed it very irregular, focusing on the hills, and between the positions here and there, but also with the earth visible anywhere.

I 'm still undecided but i'm between these two comercial types but both with the festuca arundinacea as predominant species





or, if we finally cannot establish a reliable irrigation system, then this one would do the job: Bouteloua dactyloides, aka Buffalo grass.

we will see, we have to talk to the RC car club to see if we can do the works to use and install the sprinkle irrigation system...

I have just found this thread. I'm astounded at the level of skill & dedication shown, not to ignore all the hard graft. Do you intend on being very selective with shrubs so you can have small Trees?

I've been following this thread and admire what you are doing, first class modelling and imagination , yo paso mucho tiempo en Asturias porque mi mujer es de alli, si estuviera mas cerca de vosotros me encantaria ser parte de vuestro grupo para ayudaros y para aprender nuevas cosas que vosotros sabeis sobre maquetas, y para divertirme en vuestro panzodrom. you are so kind for your comments mate. And yes, we want to be selective! periodically we clean the ground of weeds that do not serve as plants to our scale, and left spread the ones that we think are ok. We also have already several scale 'threes'
