Shouted myself a bottle of Gentleman Jack out of my (ahem) vast hoard of duty free booze & put the Coronas behind me pretty quick.

Got the last patches of Gelb masked off, leving the engine deck & rear plate green I think.
Just seems the right thing to do.

Have a #$##@@#$#$ - hot new years evening mate, and to those you care about, all the best wishes from my lot down here.

I shall be incoherrent shortly as I will swap this device for loud music & free-poured Gentjack !!

Cheers to all the 1/16th tankers in here & the suffering folks that support them eh :haha: :haha: ;)
 GOOD O!!!!!...Have a grand evening :D

Makes sense - I was thinking about preserving the paint but that can't be bad - an accidental bonus! :D

That doesn't even have a wash on it right? I'm floored at how well the welds and cuts on the "steel" come out with some paint.

The life of every one of us seems so different but we are united by our admiration of each-other's craft.

Enjoy your New Years!

Kind of like that effect left by the blue tac....I know that's not how it's supposed to be...but that dark line left on the side of the gelb looks alright :D
As a suggestion ...maybe do the same to your test piece ...clear coat it ...and see if it stays or disappears

Jeez mate youre not all just teeth, tits, & ass eh !!!!! :haha:
Got the repainted guard offcuts outside drying out already. Will indeed do the same thing & see if it goes away or not.

Next mission is to do those rings.
Part of the reason the off cuts are getting another round of paint.

Good luck with that Grasshopper... as another suggestion...don't go too heavy with the gelb...you never know..you might have to touch up a doughnut or two...so you don't want too much of a build up :D

Hav'n a bit of a woo-up today. Decided to get the brown wash on the running gear.
Its the first time Ive ever used an enamel wash on any model, and this stuff is really user friendly.
Goes on & spreads easily, does not disturb the Tamiya acrylic and has the desired effect.
Im not overly concerned with putting the matt sealer over this as there is very little other detail to go on the lower hull as far as weathering etc, maybe a dusting of Buff or Flat Earth but thats about it.

The upper hull I will seal after the rings & before adding any wash or weathering. I have a green wash in the same Humbrol range that I might use to do a bit of touching up here & there, but not to much. Again, a light dusting & the odd rain streak but not so much as to make it look like this King Tiger has been in theatre for longer than 2 weeks.

The grime effect on the wheels is obvious when compared to the untouched Gelb on the sponson walls. I was going to just wash over those as well, but really a light texture of dry mud should be applied. Will see if I can get a light compound as against my normal brew of potting mix and PVA glue mixed with darker oil paints .
