HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Got the new batteries and I think they're going to be just perfect for these little trucks.

I've just started stripping my truck preparatory to the Matador build and noticed that the motors are a standard size, in which case it should be possible to upgrade them if anyone wants extra grunt.

Here is a possible source for heavier duty motors, haven't tried them but might give them a try once I get into the build.

I was wondering if maybe a tank turret rotation motor or an airsoft motor might be better than the stock motor in the trucks, but haven't gotten around to any experimentation. I have heard that installing an airsoft motor in the turret rotation unit can increase turret rotation speed, so it stands to reason that all these little motors aren't the same, it's just a question of figgerin' out which is best for this application. If it turns out that airsoft motors give more speed and torque I'm all set, since I have more scrap airsoft units with good motors in them than you can shake a big stick at. @) @) @)

I must agree the motor that comes with the stock truck is very underpowered.

I just ordered a Tamiya torque tuned motor locally for mine ( thanks for the information Alwyn)

Will see how she runs once I receive and install it.
