Tom I have been after gurt sacks for a while and so I have been checking afv weekly and yesterday they had been restocked so I ordered a pack of 4, give them another try before they run out again. shaun

The AFV Gurtsacks, I had to email them and ask too, as well as for the ammo belt. They stock periodically. If you don't get one via AFV or Magman I will send you one of my left-overs if you like, though I damaged the others, or they arrived that way. They are very delicate and the "hinges" are thinner than paper, woops.

Paul, I realized that about the barrel last night too when looking up pictures. Dammit. I hope I can take it apart without damaging anything to fix that and the sack which I didn't notice. Please do nitpick, even if I don't get the chance to follow the advice I appreciate the lesson.

Maybe the crew of that Panther found it easier to open the sack from reverse? Great pic Magman, thanks.

Hey Zuul ...If you didn't solder your gun together and just used crazy glue...just heat that puppy up with a butane lighter...(in the places that need it lol)..everything should fall apart after

Sov, Whenever I find out after I have fitted something that it is the wrong way about I remind myself that as I am left handed why shouldn't the crew member who did the job originally also have been left handed? It works for me as an excuse by the way when you get to painting the MG, painting the bullet heads in bronze/brass on the ammo belt highlights the whole MG shaun

Very true Shaun regarding the ammo belts, and there is a lot of detail to paint in on the AFV ones too.

Steel jacketed rounds were not uncommon in the german military during WWII as well as brass and copper, so that is another option. Here is a pic of SG44 Kurtz ammo and Mauser 8mm rounds showing some of the variety. I believe some rounds had steel casings too.



And here is a pic of a belt of steel jacketed rounds. As you can see the black belt is more visible on one side of the loaded belt. This is the top of the belt, and the side with more brass visible is the underside.

I hate taking stuff apart, it looks good and never looks as good when put back together. At least it's correct.

Please Sov don't think I am trying to teach an old dog new tricks but I am certain you know that the lower spare track mount on the turret has to be offset, My mounts came with a template that I cut out and using a pritt stick I stuck both sections in place on the turret then I pin viced an indentation into the point marked, template off and mounts superglued in place, job done. shaun

Good idea on the template, I don't think mine came with that. Fortunately David's information is as helpful as it comes with the measurements, multiple views and configurations changed over the years.

P.S. I had to look up Pritt Stick. I've never heard of it before.
