What I've learned as a member of the forum and from experience, metal is NOT always the best way to upgrade ( unless its Aber photo etched) I've found many "metal upgrades" very limited in detials vs. plastic

Thanks and a very true observation. I’ll do a side by side comparison this evening after work. I’ve gone this far with the build so I might as well use the most accurate jack.

To get the most accurate jack ( that I have seen ), get yourself a Tamiya jack and a set of the ABER brass updates for the Tiger 1 and go to town. ;o) I have built two of them so far for an early and a late Tiger. Beautiful pieces of kit once done.

Wow, that’s nice of you. I think I can use those illustrations to create something better than what I currently have. I have Heng Long, Taigen and Mato jacks and plenty of brass stock. I also have a set of Aber clamps and latches to utilize. I don’t mind ordering kits and parts but overseas shipping is costly and seems to take forever. I believe a little scratchbuilding is in order.

Tonight I added a base to the Mato metal jack that I cut from a plastic Taigen jack. Then I added an Aber clamp to the jack handle and formed some basic jack mounting brackets from styrene strip. Then I assembled and mounted the Aber jack block kit. I really like the look of the real wood. Thanks for all the advice folks. I’m still waiting for the right side pistol port.

What did I see ?
Heng Longs stump of a "Tow Hook".
If you go to the MENU and click on
"Things To Fix On Your New Tank"
And click on the first entry----By BIRGER
Tiger 1
you will see a long list of fixes compiled by Birger,
amongst them is a How to build a proper Tow Hook.
A really easy and CHEAP fix

Thanks. I’ll be fixing that situation this evening. It’ll bug me all day at work. I also removed the rear mounted jerry cans. I saw them mounted in a photo but it just didn’t look right. Now it looks much better.

The Jerry cans are a good decision. I made my towing pintle setup using plasticard
