You know Kiaser....I've seen GUP color sets on EBAY...But dang...it's like 80 dollars US per set which has colors for ONE...one individual 1/35 scale tank

RESEARCH TANK: CARRO ARMATO (Italeri)
This tank is a pretty good attempt from Italeri ...New molds made for a pretty pleasurable build....the shortcoming came with the PE that was provided but not really necessary ..and the turret ...which fell into the old Italeri "ill fit" reputation...other than that...everything was great...hardly any flash and nice assembly

Left the skirts off as I wanted to be able to view the Fruilmetal tracks...they just had that nice droop that would have been ashamed to cover ...Will probably use some lesser quality tracks on my second one and cover those up with the skirts to view the Carro in it's best form

Alpha,
Extra sweet on the Italian armor job! I like the look of those metal tracks and think a set would work on my 1/35 Tamiya Tiger 1. Either those or the Spade Ace brand. How does the provided wire work to keep the links together. Tiny steel pins is what I have always had in mind to use if I did a set.

Not too bad on the piggy bank for the Armato...remember I was able to lock down two ...one for about half the normal cost and one for the price of the tracks..so basically the second one would be almost cost freeKiaser wrote:Goodness me that would break the piggy bank , I must say I like your painting andyou have no issues with being colour blind that is for sure

I would agree...the tanks comes with those glue together plastic items....detailed but ugly
The metal tracks make a huge improvement Mr A.

Thanks Painless....What makes the Armato even sweeter is ...after building this research tank...found it is a viable candidate for transition to 1/16 RC conversionPainlessWolf wrote:Alpha,

Yes the metal tracks are the way to go...Stick with Fruil or Spade ace...there is another brand out there (the name eludes me) ...but the construction is very much like the Modelkasten plastic junk ...where two pins are inserted from each side to lock the links
I found the wire to be more than adequate....it is flexible enough to allow for "tweeking" like some of the tighter 1/16th cousins
One tip on the metal tracks...see if you can find a seller in the states...I ordered a set of Fruils for another model from Poland....dang if it didn't take forever to arrive...and the sellers don't really reply to messages ...have yet to try ordering from China... I would imagine they are a tad faster too
With that said...I really like the castings of the Fruils

PS. The models that will be appearing were made and finished before the arrival of those accursed Modelkasten tracks
Re: OCD Builds.... Research Tanks in 1/35th 8O
Yeah...It's kind of Unfortunate in a way....When I stopped using Photo Bucket ,, several of the pictures of my tanks and the building of some of them went awol...But I do have under the Pravda Banner the KV2 and two T34s and one Bastard M41 "Hollywood" mock T34... I have just recently locked down four Js2s ...remote with IR functions in 1/35th....I might use a one of them as donor for another 1/35th scale tank that I've found to be a little impractical in 1/16th just because of the massive size of it
The PO is pretty good here...the Fruils that are on the Armato came from the Continent also the Modelkastens and another set of Fruils ....they arrived in about a week...with sellers that were very responsible answering messages and posting tracking numbers....The guy that I ordered from that was located in Poland not so good....he didn't answer my messages and posted no tracking number which was present as it was sent registered
The only way I knew they were on their way was an Email from PayPal...I should have given the guy a neutral...but they did arrive safely ...gave the guy a break for the distance the package had to travel
Live and Learn though eh Kiaser...Sometimes taking a risk teaches us all who and where to deal with ...even if it's a matter of a few dollars
