IBU3
Re: IBU3
Thanks for the heads up for the driver antivirus issue.
Not certain how to avoid it, as is an application.

Re: IBU3
Just had a quick look at the link, and the quick start guide is neatly organised, and clear. The problem for me, and a few others I expect, is that as a Mac user I'd have to buy a copy of Windows 10, and an emulator package (although 'parallels' is free, I think- without checking). Editing the text files on the SD card might work; but that's unsatisfactory. If I were to buy IBU3 (and I'd love to use it), could it be preconfigured to some extent for, sayTankbear wrote:Created a quick start guide for installing the software, drivers and connecting the IBU3 to computer.

a King Tiger (as with Clarke boards)? If so, then the limitations of not being able to configure the board might be reduced. It's really a pity that the software is not going to be ported for the Mac. That might prevent me from buying one (or more)...

Re: IBU3
Never said it wouldn’t be ported to Mac. But for now the initial release it’s PC, as anyone who has had an IBU2 from day one will tell you it has evolved a lot and many features added since it’s first edition following customers request and feedback. So with the IBU3 we expect the some comments but this time it’s the IBU3 and the user interface (PC software). So we envisage the software will change, and to keep costs down the focus is on the PC version. Once at a stable version then a Mac version could be ported.Tankbear wrote:It's been looked into, but initial thought is because the pc software will be changed a few times after initial launch following user feedback. When software is stable it could be ported to Mac.Cruciblesteel wrote:Will software for this board be available on the Mac ? Cheers ric
Scalawag who uses a Mac as tried a few other avenues for using pc software on the Mac but has resorted to using boot camp and Windows 7.
I'm also trying a bootable Linux stick with wine and software to work in Mac computers but although all the guides make it sound easy I cannot get it to boot

Re: IBU3
Okay thinking outside of the box.
I will preload one with music and default settings. Then connecting to a radio and see if it works, be a bit harder as loose the radio configuration but maybe I can get it to work.
Give me a day to try it.

Re: IBU3
Thanks. Will do. I hadn't read through the whole thread before posting, so missed a few comments.Tankbear wrote:Okay thinking outside of the box.

Re: IBU3
Some good news.
I've semi preloaded an IBU3 with sounds and some settings calibrated to my radio. Then put the IBU3 in a different tank with a different radio and it worked
So it looks like it works, although have too calibrate it to a radio before hand so there is a risk users radio might have different limits so may be some issues but until tried I've no idea how much of an issue it will be.

Re: IBU3
Another avenue I'm looking into is I bought a cheap windows 8.1 tablet with micro USB off ebay today so when that arrives I see if I can load the software onto it and get it connected to the IBU3.
If it works maybe I can loan it out to Mac customers for the initial setup process. But early days got to see if it works first

Re: IBU3
I've done some updated pictures of the IBU3

Everything shown in the pictures is included.
RC Tank Electronics are also including a USB lead (currently 3m) from USB socket to computer.

Manufacturer has tried this today but with Windows 10 on the tablet (Mediacom 7" win 10) and confirmed it works. Did mention that due to screen size some of the buttons of the software where out of reach but with this in mind the software will be amended to include small 7" touch screens.
So this looks like a cheaper route than buying a copy of Windows for Mac users, plus got benefit can take with you to make changes to the tank whilst away from the home.
I will confirm windows 8 on tablet works or not in next few days.
