Well Mr Jarndice, it was plenty sunshine - like the kind that Mr Alpha gets without interruption..........and I set up outside, took all the time I needed to get the paint thinned right..............set the airbrush up for outline spray (sound of harps & whales , Vivaldi's Four Seasons etc  ) and then the wind came up.
Great news if I was going F'n sailing eh :-< :-<

Its ok, Im settled with it, but I'm just not getting "that loving feeling" if you know what I mean.
I tested the dark yellow out on a pre shaded grey part without mixing & it looked to 'gold' but now with the researched mix of deck tan it looks too .....desert sand-ish. Could do a light blow over of unmixed XF60 heavily thinned & see how that looks in daylight.
The grey/black preshading has held up fairly well, but the stark patches overwhelm it. Might have to do a pinwash after all. But the WW is going to be the deal breaker, once thats started, there is no going back.

The Rotbraun should tone it down a bit, and I will do a bit of weathering work to temper it before the white wash goes on and see how it rolls.

It's a TANK :haha: :haha: :haha: ...I would think whatever crew painted it in the field met with worse conditions... and probably wanted to get the work done before bullets started to fly :haha:
There must be something we cannot see from here...but personally I thing the pattern...the colors .. are set in perfectly... satisfaction will come with the degree of weathering and perhaps toning ;)

Happy Tanking Herman Image

Ha!!, its a Tank alright, and there is no doubt the crew or support unit team got the paint on from the paste sent with the vehicle from tins PDF'Q thats for sure.
I guess its just that I was prepared to get the taste of an apple & got a bananna for want of a better term :S
Just as good but not what you were expecting :eh:

Perhaps I will try starting a row with the wife(closest to bullets available) chucking the paint in a pot with petrol to thin it and wiping it on with a cotton bud :haha:

Like its said "theres only 2 weeks between a good haircut & a bad one" so tomorrows Rotbraun will hopefully rest the mind & steel the resolve.
Sealer & mild weathering should sort it & the WW will bury it regardless

Still...she looks good from how I am viewing it... though granted the view from a computer screen may vary there to here...one of the reasons I think it is already a good foundation is.. I can picture it with a little wash...pin lining... and the little bits of detail...a fine patterned paint job might just disappear under what's coming... what you have now I think is perfect and will still be there after everything is said and done

What she might need as a finishing touch is a female commander :haha:

What may be an alternative to overspraying it, is to apply a filter layer to it. Using an something like Sin Industries Tri-Colour or Light Ochre (can also make from oils - Mig Abteilung oils are good for this) filter will get rid of that gold effect, darken it slightly but leave the underlying dark yellow colour. If you check out tomhugill's Tiger and my Tiger, they use the same XF-60 but different filters.

I never considered a filter..............new to me if I do say, but could be well worth a go, if for nothing else than to see how it goes . the WW will cover any unacceptable results anyway, so never be a better way to learn & find out than to try it.
I will now have to find the right product & that cant happen until during next week when I can get to a place that might have it.
For now its the Rotbraun & sealer.

Herman,
You are definitely headed in the right direction with your paint. Billpe has good advice with the filter to darken and mellow out the sand. Your Tiger will be one for the books. ;o)
