Oh, I love it!
As Mayne Reid's hero, Zebulon Stump from Kentucky, said:
-Don't spoil this magic drink with soda or ice....

Just got internet restored for a moment.
Power stayed on but not without surges.
It’s pretty messy but we’ll be right,

Got the base coat on, run out of paint for the final top modulation,
Could be a week or two before I get access to supplies.

Good work so far!
It's always hard to get the right balance with the basecoat coverage, when the preshading still goes through but is not too obvious.
Can't wait to see the modulations, filters etc, my fav part of the painting process!

G’day folks, Herman The Duck here !!
Still a quarter of a million homes without power, flooding and trees down all around
We’ve had a flow of people in & out of our house for showers, device recharging and a break from the misery.
We had a tree smash a section of the alfresco area roof off but no real serious damage.
Patchy telecommunications and no internet on the Gold Coast where I am, kids are rattled but life goes on.

Just driven 80kms to our workshop to push thru a project that has to get out west tomorrow to load 500,000 litres of hydrocarbon condensate out of a new well that has to be trucked to a refinery so today is a big one.

One silver lining is that I got the top coat on the Merk.
Used the modern IDF grey out of a Gen 3 AK set and dusted it over the Vallejo grey-green base.
Lots to do yet but the look is there now.
Had to use Turpentine to thin the paint as it did not respond to Tamiya thinner at all.
Used window cleaner to clean the airbrush afterwards so be warned on the latest AK paint.

Now IDF modern grey is Brown. Not grey, and it’s not grey like Panzer grey rather green-grey. Not green that we all know it’s not easy being !!

Something is already working out!
I'm glad that the elements didn't hit you too hard!
And the look of the tank...

Machine guns in place.
A bit to do with the control cables to the .50 as seen in many pics.
Happy with the overall colour of this giant thing, a lot of paint to look at !

Definitely needs crew to complete it.
Chipping, Sealing and weathering next. ;)

I’ve made a cardboard pattern for the bustle rack tarp, now to cut material into shape.
Stowage is the next thing.
Looking at loads of pics it’s difficult to tell what’s in the rack if the tarp is on properly, but others show ration boxes, water containers, Jerry cans(for water as well I assume) packs, bed rolls and unidentifiable other stuff !
No ammo that I can tell though, certainly no main gun stuff but possibly MG cans .
Men gotta eat
Men gotta drink
Men gotta fire weapons
Men gotta sleep
So the stuff needed is in there I’m sure !!
