I will search out my masses of pictures I took when overseas and look for any I have of T series or J series tanks and bung them in here.
The casting finish is so irregular its frightening.

Well....I just completed the Tamiya IS2....and then I found this thread....and even though I read through the entire thing I am sitting here saying how the hell did he do that?! Amazing work man. Simply beautiful IS2!

For those like me who can only look on and admire Tamiya kits, they are so far out of my financial league they are unatainable, but it is possible to produce imitations of these with a bit of ingenuity and hard graft (and having a 3d printer helps).

Many thanks Mick, yes there is a real sense of satisfaction when the externals of the job are done. I modelled this on the early IS2 of which there were less than 40 produced, probably less than half the 43 IS2s produced in 1943 were the stepped-hull variety rather than the later Tamiya sloping front glacis version. There are pics of an early IS2 survivor on primeportal which I modelled my tank on. They did see service, usually teamed individually with a group of T34s so that when a Tiger or Panther showed up to massacre the T34s then the IS2 could wade in and either scare them off or give them a good hiding. Apparently the 122mm shell could knock out a Tiger or Panther even if it didn't breach the hull due to the kinetic impact of the huge round.

I am hoping this won't be a shelf queen and with the advent of the TK10 this should see a number of outings at the LAD meets, although not as a battling version.
