Soeren,
Until now? *chuckles* Yes, the booklet is from the ABER Complete Detail Kit. I also use the Tamiya RC Tiger1 manual since this will be an RC version of the Static Kit.

Would be "up to this state" or something like that be more appropriate? Basically it is not finished yet and already ist impressive. But something I wonder about, the finer details come out the most when unpainted. With paint on it, one really has to get close to realize all the detail work.

Soeren,
You have hit upon the reason why many owners of the all metal tanks leave them unpainted. ;o) When you paint them, they look just like their plastic or plastic\metal counterparts. You can't tell that the tank is all metal until you touch it or pick it up. The owner knows tho' ;o) ( also, tanks with extra detail just look better, more realistic, busier? when viewed ) ;o)

Picked up the Tiger after the work day was done and made a push to complete Step 27. It's all complete once the cable ends dry overnight and get mounted tomorrow. A scad of painting and some gluing of little parts. Soon, on to the turret. Pics:

Cables mounted and sheesh!, they worked. Step 27 is complete as is the Lower Hull ( minus installing the nice spring loaded antenna but that can wait until I'm not turning the deck over to install electronics. That part is coming up soon ) Next up, the turret. Pics:

That really, really looks good! It's amazing how much better the real wire cables and replacement clamps look than the stock plastic cable setup that Tamiya gives you, (up to now, I thought it looked fine - until I see this masterpiece you're creating)!

Sass,
I agree, sir. Tamiya does some fine parts work but in the case of those plastic cables, they are _too_ perfect looking to resemble the real thing, closely. The combination of Tamiya, ABER and Schumo worked much better on these.

Xmas arrived early today. After a quick look-see, I must wrap it and then torture myself with it for 21 days. I'll drop these couple of pics into Mike's Tiger thread as this new Tiger will be a Zug mate to his. Pics:

It's been upgraded since I bought mine - either that or they spoil you over the other side of the pond. No metal barrel, no photo-etch parts, no optional Afrika Corp bits in mine. :'(

SS1947, I think this is just a variant kit that they offered for a while. Worth waiting for. Tonight I started on Step 28 ( Step 34 if you are building the RC version and using that manual ) Of course I couldn't locate the polycaps I was sure I saw when this kit showed up so I ordered a quick set from the AAF Museum. ( If the order takes too long to get here, I'll nab the caps out of my Tiger Kit and replace them with the ordered ones ;o) Onwards we go. Pics:
