Thank you for the handy tips. This will be the first time I have camo-ed something this large with brushes. It will be a Tri-tone camo so I have two colors to put on with the DG as the predominate base. That will be followed with a pin wash to bring out details. Accessories and tools have been done in complimentary Wehrmacht colors.

Go slow... dab lightly the pattern you want to create first...then go progressively heavier...blow drying between coats... if done well ..you should be able to come close to what an airbrush can do

Alpha,
This will be fun. I'll start on the tank proper this Sat. Tonight, I started work on the Driver. Time to visit the Hobby shop tomorrow and get some flat uniform colors.

Painless

I'm sure you know to just take your time Painless.... try not to get flustered ...it's real easy to do lol....The main idea when doing the camo is not to overdo one spot..and catch yourself before you do... a cup with water ( for acrylics) is good to have handy...and a roll of paper towels lol...The cool thing about going this path...is you might run into some nice weathering techniques you can use later
WE HAVE FAITH IN YOU...YOU CAN DO IT

Good Morning,
Thank you, Alpha, I used to do this on a regular basis with 1/35 scale stuff. I have a pattern and colors selected and a pic of what it should look like so I am optimistic ;o) WIP on the driver: The figure is crude but the paint makes it better. He's no Crazy Joe but he will do.

painless

That's great to hear Painless.... You know I already watch your builds... will now watch as you do your camo... I haven't done that in awhile... so I will probably be the one who learns something

Good Afternoon,
The Commander figure came in the post from RCTanks.de today and of course it was the wrong one. No matter, if it is a giant hassle to return\replace or refund, I will keep this guy and replace his Pith helmet with the cap and goggles I've already painted and put a wine bottle in his hand instead of a canteen. Nothing goes together better than 52 tons of tank and a tipsy driver. ;o) I made it out to the Hobbytown shop today and picked up some uniform paint and two bottles of the green and red that will finish up the paint on the KV-2.
regards,
Painless

Alpha,
*chuckles* The KV-2 will have a Commander and a Driver. It just depends which of these fellows is what. I've rounded up a headset and wires from spares for whoever the driver is. The WIP looks better than his photo. I'm trying out some tips I learned on him and one of those is no red on the lips and no flat spray overcoat to make paint run. ;o)

A quick update since Fridays and the weekends are hectic. I finished the paint on the 'Commander' figure last night. I am pretty happy with this fellow. Some information and a good set of brushes make a lot of difference particularly in shading and realistic clothing. RcTanks.de is already on the ball with the mistake in shipping the wrong resin\metal figure so I should know what is going on with that very soon. It is still up in the air on which one will be the Commander but this guy certainly looks the part. Pics:
