Yes, you're right Pete - the tracks by Torro are also a bit angled at the edges; but in comparison with the other tracks are they more likely straight...
...and I think Torro has it well done.

The 9 tooth drive sprocket tracks don't look sloped to me, rather to have a rounded off edge as the Torro tracks also have.

Hotte explained the rest FAR better then I ever could have.

Now is the time come for painting. At first was primed, used was Tamiya’s primer fine in light gray.



Especially the blank metal parts needs a prime for a good adhesion the following color layers.



Thereafter followed the first colour layer on the dismounted undercarriage parts and also at lower and upper hull. Used was german dark yellow, with white colour brightened.



After drying first once the mounting of all components except electronics.



Here a few pictures after the mounting; but still without skirts and fenders.







And a bit later then with mounted skirts.

If I may bother you with a question please, weren't they primered in red oxide? As I and other members look to these fantastic builds such as your King Tiger as a road map of sorts for our own piddly little builds I'm sure this question will be asked again.

Hi jackalope,

the result is for me decisive. Tamiya has in my opinion the best primer for all the different used materials. Unfortunately hasn’t Tamiya primer in red oxide. And you must concerns, that every coat of paint concealed also contours; so you have to spray thin coats and as little as possible coats of colour.
My kingtiger will receive a three colour camouflage scheme. For that I’ve primed at first all parts with light grey Tamiya primer and then received the underside and also all edges a red oxide coat for a better depth effect.



Thereafter follows the camouflage colours; first dark yellow and then the green and brown camouflage stains.
In result are this three, at some areas four colour coats. I hope your question is thus answered.

Yes sir thank you very much. I use Tamiya paints myself and for the red oxide primer I just go to the local auto parts store and buy a rattle can of it and spray the tank. But I certainly understand wanting to use only 1 brand of paint. Not sure why Tamiya doesn't offer red oxide, perhaps someone should write them an email.
