Nigel:
I used Tamiya spray white fine primer on the tank commander figure and I stated about the same. It was akin to grease on water. Lesson learned. I wound up shooting the tank in enamels, then used two coats of flat prior to the wash, which was made with white spirits and Winsor and Newton oils. No issue at all as long as you let it dry OVERNIGHT! Another hard lesson
learned long ago. @)

I have the commander competed less the tanker insignia on the beret. I made a set of head phones for him, which I have to paint now. o-
As soon as the weather clears enough to take a good picture in an outdoor setting I will post that here.

Jesus christ thats awesome pal, best sherman model tank ive ever seen.

Your skills have transfered from 1/35 to 1/16 very well,

Whats best to work on 1/16 or 1/35 scale?

Mike, in my personal opinion 1/35 is easier, primarily because in 1/16, gizmatology doesn't really fly. The details are too large to improvise for the most part.
I appreciate the compliment. I finally finished a project for a friend here, so I am going to start piecing together a Sherman Calliope.
I will try and post the build as I did with the Firefly.

Thank you! I enjoyed the build, for the most part.. A few pull your hair out moments on this one, but I didn't wind up throwing any parts in the process. :lolno:

Hi Dan. A most excellent looking and fascinating build

As you may or may not know, I'm collecting up the parts to build all known variants of Sherman fireflies, along with other types of Sherman that were in British service during the second world war.
Therefore I'm highly interested in this particular build.

I've pulled this quote from your first post to ask you if that picture has been published yet so that you may share it with us? Because that would be fantastic if you could

He made the jump into Grave, Holland on 17 Sept 44 with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. The first allied troops to land in Holland. I have given rights for the picture to be reproduced for an upcoming publication on Sherman variants and was asked not to post it elsewhere until the publication has been released.
As a side. My wife's grandfather was in the British First Airborne, and he was one of the first to enter/drop into Norway. And one of his two sons (not my wife's waste of oxygen father) also joined the first airborne in peace times. Sadly the grandfather was blinded while liberating Norway. And many years after, as late as the early 80's he was still receiving well wishing letters from a couple of Norwegian people who were thankful for his part in liberating Norway, yet saddened that he lost his sight in doing so.
