I know I said I was going to do some shaping yesterday, but when I pulled the upper cab off I found lots of voids that needed to be addressed before a trip to the belt sander. Still sneaking up on how many "curves" it needs...
Working without plans is trickier at times. Using a micrometer (or Vernier caliper) on pictures in a book or on a computer screen is a bit strange.

I started with the interior and inner fenders, so when building the outer skin the wheel arches started to bug me. Still have some manipulating to do and have to raise the front end a bit. Every picture has the front end a bit higher than this one even without a trailer. Then the fender to tire/tyre distance will be better again.
Also trimmed the door openings. In each corner is a box that accepts a screw from below.

Dropped the Tamiya semi spring hangers and shackle mounts to the bottom of the frame (about 6 mm). The unintended advantage is the motor mount shares the front spring mounting hardware lowering the motor/trans by the same amount, offering a little extra space. If more lift is needed some blocks/spacers may be added between spring and axle (not DOT approved).

Every aspect of this is just astounding................the mechanical realism blows my tiny mind

Thanks Herman, but just remember, your builds have always been an inspiration to me. It was your works that caused me to try out scratchbuilding.

Looking at the amazing scratch building on this project makes me ashamed of my whining about having to do relatively minor repairs to my Sd. Kfz 251

My stuff will never be the close up - museum quality stuff that many here on the forum can do. I have to settle for the things that make me happy. Perfection and stunning paint work including weathering are things that I will never master. You (and many others) have skills and talents that I envy. Keep on tanking, that is what this forum and hobby is all about. I'm am glad that you are working on the Sd. Kfz 251, I would ruin it!

Need some honest input (that means Meter Rat and SoaG are out ). Yesterday I felt the slope in front of the windshield is off (too steep or too short). This morning looking through all the pictures I have I feel better about it. The third picture is the closest to a "profile" shot I have.
Mr. Meter Rat and the rest of the UK, I am working on converting away from Imgur. I think I have an issue with my computer (but more likely myself). I am using Paint to resize, but then can't end up with a file to apply. Will keep working on fixing this, am waiting for some expertise from Sassgrunt...

I think it looks pretty close to the slant on the real 1 mate and its coming on well

I'm looking at the angle the windshield runs coming off the front fender edge below it and it looks pretty close-ish...and by "ish" I mean +/- 1° !
