Weathering ?....................what is it in actuality ?
=The effect of the weather, service life, environment, soil exposure and its mineral effects on metal or paint, ultraviolet exposure, dust, metallurgical content in the vehicles construction...............etc etc etc

HOW ? can anyone predict or otherwise stipulate any form of consistent "weathering" methodology ??
If they can, I want to read it.
Even Mr Jiminez only uses his minds eye interpretation and skilled execution of what his model looks like the day he does it.
Its a model- a representation of what the builders educated guess is of what it might have looked like if it were a real machine.

Sure, we know water runs down a vertical surface, and would pool on a flat one blah blah blah, but as for 'right' or wrong ??

Mark my words Sir, it will all come together when you get the upper onto the lower and tie them all in.
Any man that produces an AFV with an open fighting compartment deserves a medal.

Some very nice weathering effects you've got going on there Richard on a lovely looking build what I do when applying streaking effects ( i normally use ak interactive products) is i use another brush with just thinners on it and feather out the streaking until you reach your desired result, if you take too much off with the thinners you can always go over it again with more streaking and so on, this is the method that has worked for me over the years, HTH

Another thing i find with weathering Richard is that the best results come from a build up of weathering rather than one magic product, streaking ,dirt, dust, oil , mud etc all add to the overall look which blends and tones down any one particular effect to give a realistic outcome

For a little while something has been niggling me, but I was not sure what it was. Then this evening, I sat the upper hull on the lower and it came to me. The lowest part of the rear access doors is 105mm off the ground. This equates to 1.70m or just over 5ft 6inches in old money. So far as I can see, there are no steps shown in any of the diagrams or photos, so how the hell did the crew get access to the rear fighting compartment? I can't believe they only used high jump champions for crew. And to jump that high in full kit would have been some athlete.

Hi Richard, they probably climbed up the tow bar and the barrel cleaning rods. I think I have seen pics of some Nashorns with individual small metal steps welded to the hull. I'll try and dig out a photo. Yup just done a search for nashorn images and some show a metal rung just above the tow bar in the centrr

Thank guys. Armed with the information, I had another look and the step is now blindingly obvious. My only excuse is that I have a nasty dose of man-flu which has affected my ability to connect what I see to my reasoning processes. I shall manufacture one, together with the grab handles on the inside of the doors.

Now you're adding complications. How about when they leave the vehicle they leave the doors open?

When the barrel cleaning rods are fitted, they sit just below the doors and they could stand on those to be able to reach the latch. Also if there was no-one inside then presumably the doors were left open to allow for rapid embarcation/action?
