A blast from the Past! I will watch the videos a.s.a.p. Geepers, that thing is huge (and no doubt, so was the cat). It's a land-borne battleship!
Unh, how's the cat? Or shouldn't I ask?

cat is no longer with us sadly.Herr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 9:49 pm A blast from the Past! I will watch the videos a.s.a.p. Geepers, that thing is huge (and no doubt, so was the cat). It's a land-borne battleship!

but yeah, hopefully i can get the build assembly right this year and with updated electronics to play with

Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
gearbox specs and dimensions chosen for my FCM F1 is the JGY-370

rated for the 6v setup we have for our tanks and ordered it with the output shaft of 10rpm.
that may be slow but the design of the tank's driving sprocket is as tall as the hull. its quite large. so the speed should be nicely slow and torquey as the gearboxes are rated at 9kg at the shaft. i could pull a mato king tiger with that power. granted if the tank itself has the inertial mass to support it and not doing burnouts

Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
for some visual aid on how slow 10rpm looks like. there is a website called gear generator and it gives a good idea how fast or slow certain RPM looks
https://geargenerator.com/#200,200,100, ... 0,0,3,-738
this one right here is set with the 10RPM in mind.

Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
Gear Generator entertained me for a half hour the first time I clicked a link to it.
I must restrain myself this evening.

Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
told ya its a neat toy but a really good visual aid on how we can see RPM more accurately. there is also gear generator 2 linked in there. that version can produce and set up planatary gearsHerr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 2:22 am Gear Generator entertained me for a half hour the first time I clicked a link to it.I must restrain myself this evening.

heres the gearboxes that i ordered. shafts are alittle shorter than i expected tho but i can fix that

Those are slick! They could fix many clearance issues!

Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
Do I see that correctly: 6 Volt 10 RPM? These would fit just about any tank, but wouldn't it be slow going? (Me? I like slow going! I could see an M5 Stuart creeping along.) Please do keep us informed as to the where to get and how you modify these motors.
Re: Gig's 1:16 FCM F1
for my FCM it is a crawl cause also im not too bothered it being a slow gearbox because that speed is also offset by the humongous 81mm diameter sized driving sprocket.Herr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 10:04 pm Do I see that correctly: 6 Volt 10 RPM? since its a theoretical speed proposed was 20 KM/H, scaled down it should be travelling at the speed of 1.25 KM/H so really slow walking speed
