...Einfach erstaunlich! :O ..From beginning to end....but maybe there is no 'end' to bettering your tank. There's always something new on the horizon,no? Anyway, I simply can't believe how you cram so much into these cramped spaces..and so logically at that. 8O Then there's that electronic object of desire too:the Elmod unit...together with the masterclass in wiring. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I'm really looking forward to seeing
your KT in action. I have a Torro KT metal edition too, but I've done almost nothing to it since I bought it. Your Tiger is going to be a reference book of projects for the future; of that I'm sure . :clap:

How you can see is the Kingtiger by Torro not so bad as many people say. He’s a good base to build a good rc tank. I hope he will ride many miles before the next maintenance and if so I'm satisfied. :wave:

Before I start with my paint work, I had to adjust some little things which were noticed. To these changes also scored the possibility to lock the commander’s hatch. Used was a rest of a copper sheet…

Both parts were cut, drilled, mounted and later with weld lines equipped.

And still another thing had bothered me for quite some time. The engine hatch is at Torro’s Kingtiger to open, but sometimes while working at the upper hull has the hatch uncontrolled opened by itself. The original hatch was to lock – so then at one position rebuilt and at the other positions with the same screws equipped.

Last but not least I had soldered two reinforcements under the debris protection grids – it gives more stability.

Thereafter were all parts mounted and I take a view over the model for some mistakes or changes. And I found one thing; more about that next time.

Excellent Mr hotte8487. I did the same thing on the engine hatch with the Torro molded locking blocks - it's good to have then working to lock the hatch from flapping about too whenever I want to work inside.

Looking forward to seeing where you go with the colours and paint - have you decided on this yet?

Thank you once more Dr Phibes. You're right; the locking possibility for the engine hatch was a good idea. :thumbup:

Of course I've decided me; he remains the kingtiger 313 of the heavy army tank battalion 501 what he was before I'd started the conversion - but this once with some changes. Soon at this forum... 8O

Hi What a great build you have done, Have one point which will make the tank run better and reduce the load on the gearboxes , the tracks need to be trimmed ,all the 1/16 scale King Tiger tracks are wrong , if you take a look at the photo you will see both inside and outer edges are angled which when running on hard ground reduces the amount of track in contact with the ground ( its about a 1/3 less contact) reducing this contact makes it easier to turn the tank also reduces the strain on the gearboxes and helps reduce the load on the tracks which King Tigers can snap.

Hello Pete,

I'm wondering about your tracks; are they original? 8O
Or are they a kind of adjusted tracks for model kingtigers? Never seen before... :think:

The announced change concerned the barrel clean rods. Until this conversion were self-made rods mounted from round brass. But the middle part of the rod which is original from wood I didn’t like.

That’s why now the idea, to make the cleaning rods under the use of real wood. From my old rods I’ve used only the end caps; cut off and inside reamed. Wooden skewer were cut to length and at the ends was the diameter reduced.

There were thereafter the end caps mounted; here once for a fitting.

Both parts were glued together and thereafter sanded.

Hi The tracks in the photo are armortek King Tiger tracks , I have trimmed mine to look like the photo,not exactly scale almost impossible to make each link the same if you file or dremel them, I cheated quite a bit rigged up the tank so it was running slow on one track only then sanded the track down on a belt sander they are not exact but have a shape similar to the photo at least they are all the same , it turns very easy on grass and will do fast spins if I wanted to, have run it in thick mud and not had any problems .

Hello Pete,

in General were the Henschel King Tiger of the model year 1944 delivered with the tracks Kgs 73/800/300. This track consists of two parts and was called double link track, the associated sprocket has nine teeth. This chain has a straight complete contact surface and were not angled at the outer edges. 8O

For this reason has Torro everything done right with the used tracks, even the tread lugs are correct. :thumbup: Certainly should this king tiger by Torro represent a model of the early autumn 1944. Signs for that are the still welded turret cupola and the existing armor protection on the air intake and at the hinges of the rear hatch.

A few months later, in spring 1945, was the track with the label Kgs 73/800/152 used. This is a single link track. Therefore was also again the sprocket with 18 teeth used, because it has again engaged in each chain link. :O
And now take a look at your tracks - certainly late single link tracks. ;)
