That's the elevation motor mounted, just have to mount the turret rotation motor and that's the turret mechanicals complete, then comes the electronics testing.

Thankfully I added the opening roof feature as with the elevation mechanism in place it would be almost impossible to access the turret from undeneath.

Looking good. But is there enough clearance for the ratchet to revolve during the recoil when gun is depressed or elevated?

Yes it was a fiddly fit but there's about 3mm clearance on max barrel depression. It should give me about 25 degrees elevation which is fine.

I've just gone back and rechecked and with the large recoil cog I may get some fouling against the elevation mechanism, so may have to go for a smaller recoil.

Finally got back to the IS" build and restarted work on the turret

Mantlet cover fitted and the vent over the gunners position, and got the gunners hatch designed, printed and fitted

Still got the commanders hatch to do.

Phew finished the commanders hatch, very fiddly

Just the turret rear machine gun mount to do and then it's down to milliput on the turret

After two packets of milliput and a lot of "modelling" here is the IS2 turret in a reasonable state.

Just a few grab handles and bits to add.

Bloody impressive stuff!

Great way to achieve a cheaper IS2 than Tamiya offering.
