Excellent job with your ability to reach out to Mato and let them know your thoughts and reccomendations. Very well said and hopefully they will make a conscious effort to resolve the problems with thier products.

Any objections to me pretending my lot captured .50BMG's and installed them on German tanks
The .50's I have seen here recently are just breathtakingly real.

Carl, I certainly hope so. I really enjoyed their early MATO Sherman and it had its flaws but for 169.00, you kind of expected to be doing a few upgrades and the cast hull was really worth it. 700.00, I don't mind detailing but fixing?, that shouldn't be going on.
Herman, I don't see any reason why not. I'm sure that scenario happened during the war more than once, sir.

and I agree on how fiddly that ladder sight is - the detail is hard to reproduce in a photo I think, but you have done a fantastic job on this .50 cal, the Tamiya/Aber combo take it to another level altogether. Getting that little adjuster wheel on the top of the sight was a real test for my old eyes for sure! Overall, though, it's huge step up from the Mato version (I'll find a use for it elsewhere I expect).

Doc Phibes, I have better shots of the assembled MG taken with a much better camera. Once I adjust them down to fit Forum requirements, we're right back here. ;o) If you'd like to see them, PM me your email addy and I'll send them round. As for MATOs heavy metal MG, there was a Tom Hugill Sherman build where he sussed up a perfectly serviceable .50 cal out of a HL one piece-er and some scrap brass and a couple of Tamiya left overs. That's half the fun about scratch building something, getting rid of spares!
