The Charger, as of last night's work. I'm working on stripping the body as far down as it can go so I can restore individual parts at home over Winter. Nothing creative or shiny going to happen for awhile.

Hey why not use a late model fuel injected hemi engine in it? You can keep the 383 on a stand so it doesn't get used, sell the 440 to help fund the project, pick up a 6.4 liter hemi, slap on a blower and be making over 700hp like the Hellcat Challengers and soon to be Chargers.

Almost correct, the trunks DO house small third world countries to this day!

Haha, you guys make me laugh. Yes Alpha, I've ordered a nice big 60 gallon high cfm output compressor recently, just waiting on delivery, should be a week or two tops. Either way the barn is about 10 minutes from where I live, no power, no air supply, etc. Everything done with a flashlight on my head and hand tools only, or battery operated. I'll be moving the car home next year to do the heavy duty work, blasting and welding and beyond.

The car is 17.5" long (5.3 meters). Yep, what a beast, it's gigantic. Sitting next to my father's pickup truck it's longer and wider!

I want fuel injection and 8-71 blower for the 440, and the cost of a 6.4l Hemi may be more money than a 440 blower engine build. We'll see... A blown 440 will make an easy 700hp. Most guys who rebuild mild 440s make an easy 500hp with no forced induction. I'm not opposed to putting modern stuff on my old cars. This Charger will be getting modern Hotchkis parts, modern wiring, modern radio, modern gps, etc... I'm not so much restoring as I am building a street race car.

Too bad it isn't a gas powered compressor... that way you could blast it in the barn... didn't notice before...but it looks like there is a lot of filler on it...the chips on the quarter panel look deep

Won't know until I blast it. I know the right front fender has a lot of filler. I also yanked the bumper off today and I was right to suspect the car was rear-ended as the valance is smooshed in a bit.

In any case I have brand new fiberglass fenders coming and a full passenger side rear quarter coming. I declined to buy the driver side rear quarter because it might be saveable but won't know until it's stripped. I'm already over 3k into new sheetmetal and fiberglass body parts and I may need more once I cut the spot welds in the trunk and get a good view of the frame rails and more.

You guys are right about doing car work and tank work in the same day. My eyes feel funny now after an hour of working on the tank after working on the car today...

Minor update:

My engine hatch in progress. It will be on a pivot/hinge with a working catch as well for internal access to battery, smoker, etc. I'll figure out some way of using a magnet to hold it shut so it doesn't bounce open while I'm driving.

I had a VJ Valiant once, a Chrysler product. I called it the Exxon Valdez..............was almost as long & held as much fuel !
245 Hemi 6 engine and it was a brute of a thing to pilot.
The boot(trunk) did in fact hold 4 - 8.25 X 16" SAT 4WD Landcruiser wheels with tyres fitted.............FLAT, with the lid closed
