Thanks mate, not such a hard job as the Nitto kit has the Hull cast in one piece. I rectified a mistake I made with the larger scale LVT and filled the side pontoons with Polystyrene foam...just incase . Not so sure the Italeri kit is going to be so easy !

Hi Nick!
Great job on the LVT"s! Filling the pontoons with foam is a great idea and I wish I had thought of it when doing my LVT 4.

OK, you have made me want to be there too! That LVT 4 is the one with the Posden 20 mm on it isn't it? I still have not been able to climb and take pictures like I want to on the one I've seen here. Maybe someday. LOL

Yeah I thought Id real you in with this, It does have a 20mm on it but I think they just sort of popped it on there for display purposes.

I mean its not the same as the period photos from WW2, but I suppose it gives an impression. Naturally I took load of pictures of tracks suspension be happy to send them to you, or post a link. The mildly frustrating thing about the Bovington display is they have put an M29 Weasel in the cargo bay of the LVT

so you cant see anything inside it and of course this being the UK, there is limited space so all the exibits are hard up against each other so you sometimes struggle to get a view...

(You have to understand that I am not really complaining, its a privilege to see all this equipment so well preserved, the staff are great and we even met one old chap who is a WW2 tanker and still acts a guide at the museum)

Oh and this is what happens when you tell your Girlfriend that the cute little tank is Italian :lolno:

It may be Italian, but it is not a red sports car! I would dearly love to get an email of the pictures, and tell your girlfriend she is looking good also. The 20mm on the LVT is an Orlikon or a copy of one. The Posden looked quite a bit differently. As you say they probably just put it up there for looks. By the way, like your haircut. LOL

LOL thats funny H',
well I figured this thread is becoming generally amphibious so on with the next project !

Can you tell what it is yet ?? (Note Feline Model fan wanted to be involved, much as I love our moggys, they are banned from the model table as all the damn hair gets on wet paint and such...) Think its going to be tricky to keep it water tight but despite the scale its a relatively big vehicle, Old LVT in 1:35 for comparison

Your quite right, it may be a bit tricky to keep the water out of the springwerks on this one. I will be watching to learn how you manage it. I have often thought of making one of these also, but I have to finish the projects I'm already committed to first. That word scares me, committed, I keep looking over my shoulder for the guys in the white coats!

Got a few pics to come Herman, but I seem to have managed to achieve water resistance rather than proofing, lots of grease and swearing ! LOL. seems to keep the water out of the hull so far. I think it would be much easier in a bigger scale where you could make shaft driven axles and have the shafts sealed in.

I believe you are right in that respect. Having stuffing boxes would be very advantages to keeping the water on the outside of the hull. That may prove difficult in this scale.
