got a bit more done over the last few days, i let the varnish dry off then gave everything a good heavy dry-brush, when you dry-brush use a toothpick to take the thick stuff out of the bottom of the tin (i used humbrol light Grey) and leave it on a bit of paper for a minute or so, then take a wide flat brush i use a half inch flat lightly dip the bristles in the paint then wipe off 99% of the paint from the brush, flick the brush back and forwards over a cloth to take it off, a good way to test if you have the right amount of paint on the brush is to brush it over the back of your hand if no paint is on your hand then its OK to start dry-brushing.

for the yellow camo i used humbrol desert yellow and white, when its all dry you can (if you want) go back over with some pastels just to pick out the shadows a bit more and repaint any detail that needs it.......................cheers oz

Outstanding job Oz, the dry brushing gives it even more depth and life. Progress has stopped on my Tiger at the moment, as I have decided to finish the Humvee and get it out of the way. I will get back to it in a day or so and post pics of my progress.

Looks great OZ,I am still at base coat.To much going on around here,Saturday was our 17th year married so I have been spending time with my soul mate.Now back to my Tank painting.I have decided to go staight dark grey with all the weathering dry brushing detailing I can muster.Still a little unsure of how you acheive the great weathering on the tools,and the brackets holding them,for that matter all the brackets stand out,note the lifting block detail,the wood grain the holding straps,just jumps out.Please advise as I am not understanding that aspect of the proceedure.Sax  Also an update on the 1/6 scale Tiger,first it will ship no later than the 21th,sooner I hope,second it is grey but if you notice everything is late model,wheels,copula,single light,vents,and that means a complete repainting very much like your tank STEINER, so when can you guys be in MEMPHIS,if the Tank ships on the 21th ups ground from L.A. THREE DAYS.So how about Saturday the 26th of July.I can ship you both via DHL IN ONE BOX if you hold your breath at 30'000feet for about 6hrs.How about it guy's do you want to paint a 1/6 TIGER? SAX

Wow, Travel to Memphis, me and Oz in one box for a spot of Tank painting !!    Outstanding SAX Would that be First class with DHL ! Sax, I'm 14 1/2 stone, and I don't know Ozs weight, its gonna cost you some dough in shipping fees. LOL. 30,000ft, Hmm, might be able to use a few hundred air brush propellant cans ( Better than holding your breath ) outside air temperature probably  - 52 degrees, no problem to us Brits, were used to bloody cold, crap, freezing weather. ( I bet its nice and warm in Memphis )  I always wanted to visit " The land of Cotton " and meet you good ol boys.

a Holiday to Memphis eh! all i can say is thank you very much(say in the voice of Elvis  , as for the jack block take a scalpel and cut off the molded on detail then with the backside of said scalpel score the jack-block to made the woodgrain, paint it then put a black wash through it leave it for a few hours then wipe off the wash from the top and sides of the block and you will see the woodgrain effect because the wash stays in the scalpel scores, then dry-brush with a light brown, then use plastic strip or strips of lead foil to replace the straps drill them out like i have then paint in the colors you want, when its all dry use a bit of black pastel along the edges of the straps to give it a bit of shadow.

when you paint the tools don't paint over the brackets leave them the color of the tank,then put your wash through the tools and brackets together, once its all dry gently dry-brush over them with a bit of light Grey (you do the whole tank in this color) this will catch the high points of the brackets and other detail on the tank and give it some definition, (refer too my earlier post about dry-brushing) you need to take 99% of the paint off the brush and i think humbrol paint is the best for dry-brushing.

heres a better pic of the block and tool brackets, i don't know what it is but when i try and take a few pics outside i don't attract the kids but i do get my cat and his mates coming around for a look, off camera are another two pusses sitting watching me intently  , anything i can help with just ask and i,ll help out mate..................cheers oz

Great detail on the tools and jack block Oz.

apart from the hull mg thats everything done, i intend putting a final dusting over the lower hull once i get the insides finished but thats about it, many thanks too everyone for taking the time and interest on reading this thread especially sax and steiner, who without their input this thread would have ended on page one thanks again guys" here,s the final pics..................cheers oz

As always Oz, another outstanding job. I will keep this thread going until I finish the painting on my Tiger and I imagine Sax will as well.
