The mantlet design is sorted and a prototype printed to allow the pivot mechanism to be put together. It still needs a lot of work but it's getting there.

The pivot needs re-engineering to sit nicely in the frame, and the pivot mechanism needs enhancement to clamp the pivot in place, but the whole arrangement is now working as required, just needs more work which unfortunately it won't get before I head to Spain this weekend.

Back to the fun with the IS2. Next job was the muzzle brake so after lots of fun with Openscad I managed to get the design nearly right, and did a first print.
Printed with CURA 3 and with all the support structue still on

removed the support structure and presto

There a couple of snafus in the design to fix, plus this is printed at low quality, but you can see where I'm headed. it will need the milliput treatment anyway to give it the cast look, but as a first shot it's not bad.

Great to see more progress on the IS2 - do you know what electronics you want to install?

I am hoping to go IBU2 pro, but I'm still a way off that yet. I'll probably test it with an RX18 which will handle everything except the recoil, just to make sure all the mechanicals work as required.

On the home stretch now Alwyn, I'm excited to see it all textured and in one colour. What's left on the to-do list?

Hi raminator, the main fabrication work is on the turret. I am waiting for a recoil unit from tankbear so I can work out the barrel elevation mechanism, I have to fit a turret rotation motor, and then I can set up and test all the electronics and mechanical. Once that is all done then I can get on with fixing up the turret so it doesn't look like a dog's breakfast!

Still lots to do but I might treat myself and put some paint on the upper hull. It always looks better when it's all the right colour.
