Impeccable detailing, Painless

I can only assume you must have steady, watchmaker hands, and 20/20 vision...or an excellent Lupe together with endless patience. Those wee bits seem to belong to the sub-atomic realm for me! They're way too small for my senses, even armed with a glass and tweezers

Good morning, Gentlemen,
Jack, I lean back after one of these eye watering sessions and think "wow" myself, at times. Mr. 43rd, I have a Tensor lamp with a big magnifier lens built into the light. That helps out a lot. I also bought myself a pair of magnifier glasses with a built in Led light and lenses of varying power that you can swap out. Those are a very big help as well. (I look very silly wearing them I hear.) Tom, As noted long ago, I am using your early Tiger Build as an example of how to do this right. That along with Tiger reference books and photos of 131 at Bovington, this build is coming along. Thank you for the assist!
regards,
Painless

I'm sure you will remember not to fit the step iron on the track retainer.

It's like watching someone build a real one from parts they turned up on a lathe??

Evening all,
Oh yes, I'm not building 131 so no steps or hand rail on the deck. Mr. WW., you give me too much credit. What you guys do is more like building a tank from sheets of raw material. Tonight was an easy night. I cut apart my painted periscopes and re assembled them on the hatches. Going back and forth with TankBear about the electronics in the Beast and what we want it to do. More on that and Step 26, tomorrow. Pics:

Working on Step 26 of the Static Build manual which comprises a lot of the detail up front. I was presented with a pleasant question when it came to the headlamps. Mike had provided some Schumo headlamp casings and they are excellent in the manner of Schumo parts. I was about to crack open the IMEX headlamps to free the leds and wiring when my eyes fell on the ABER illustration for the headlamps. Hmmmmmmmm! I'm going to sleep on it now because without going to the work of ruining those IMEX lamp casings, I can add the ABER brass and come out with something superior in detail to the Schumo. Mike can have the Schumo pieces back for something else. I'll decide while I work on other things up front. Pics:
