"In reality the Only thing I still like about the Taigen boards is the sounds." Alas, I have lots of Taigen V3 tanks, but I agree.

I love Taigen tanks, but I hate their MFU. Their sounds are better, and you have the option of using your own radio (but you lose the machine gun).
TK7.0 was nice because it had better speed control, but then the 7.1 added ports for servo recoil, servo elevation, servo periscope, extra power port for their FPV or a gun smoke unit, plus if you have servo elevation they have a gun stabilization unit (I haven’t used this one yet so I don’t know if it’s any good though). If HL ever decided to implement using your own RX/TX and got more than four sound sets they’d have a really good card on their hands.
Deathcrusher if you have money burning a hole in your pocket you could look into getting an ElMod, OpenPanzer, or Beier MFU. Pretty much everything is going to be leagues better than either a V3 or a TK7.1. But then you’ll also need to get your own radio and transmitter on top of the cost of the MFU. But you’ll be able to use the same radio for all of your tanks that have an aftermaket MFU, so… that makes good financial sense, right?
Neat to see the recoil set ups side by side. The retraction seems a little bit slow in the HL unit in the right, but it’s still way better than the one on the left.
Funny, I have Taigen’s Late Tiger I Airsoft with barrel recoil, and although I haven’t had it out in a while, I remember the recoil being a lot better than the stock Taigen in the video. I did replace the V3 in it a while ago, so maybe I’m looking back on it with rose tinted glasses.

Tank on the left is a bone stock Torro/Taigen V3 with factory barrel servo recoil flash and smoke. You can see how the barrel kind of hiccups a recoil.
Tank on the right is a Torro/Taigen running a Heng Long TK7.1 with Rich Johnson Servo recoil an HL Open Fire barrel smoke and flash. Such a smoother realistic barrel recoil.
Would you be able to provide the links for the stuff so i could possibly buy it? Love the tiger on the right but looks so nice!
Thank you

I was looking at the elmod stuff, but im wondering what is Mato's base tank electronics like?

Mato’s all come with a Clark Board, and I think they may come with a FlySky RX/TX (not completely sure on that, but Clark does require you to have your own RX/TX like the others). A lot of people like it, I think it’s cheaper than the options I listed, still gives you a lot of functionality.
From what I remember the downsides are you have to order it with the sound files pre installed (all of the others I listed come with multiple sound sets you can select yourself), I think there might be some soldering involved if you are installing it yourself, and you have to use a particular Sony remote to program it (ElMod and OpenPanzer use a Windows/Mac program).
I am very familiar with ElMod and OpenPanzer. If you want to know more about those, I’d suggested opening a new thread and I can answer questions about them there.

I will have a look at that later when I have the tank to actually upgrade it!

Deathcrusher (and everybody else reading): I have been at this long enough to know that what Herman Bix is doing is admirable. There's precedent in a late member of the late Hobby Havoc list out of Australia. Three cheers for Bix's great generosity of time!

Thanks lads but no need for accolades!
Just doing the lad a favour to get his investment back up & running like any of us would if we could.
The metal turret poses some upgrade issues with the removal method of the gun so it can be attached to the recoil mechanism.
I went into a natal Torro turret to do the same thing & there was not enough room for the mechanical link in the casting behind the mantlet
I’m sure it’s achievable but not without some determined modifications.
I would leave this Torro as it is but repaint it and buy a V7 HL with IR & modify that
