Tools and tracks etc. Trying to get the look right, almost there.

Seen a pic of tracks on hangers having lost the guide horns. Going to do the same, old bust tracks as extra armour.

Two issues now , one is the tracks . As they have a manganese alloy in the steel they don't go all rusty after a few weeks ,need to find pics for a colour. And two the exhaust , wanting to find out if the flammezvernichter exhaust was an inner exhaust with a cover or just one tube for the exhaust . The one tube would have more heat damage so more paint affected by the exhaust gasses. Tanks had a short life , not wanting a rusty look but a paint burned off effect.

I'm just about to begin testing the new airbrush, and so I've paid particular attention to the way you 'toned' the model down. I think you've demonstrated that aged, 'lived in' look before- to great effect ( I have it myself, when I catch myself in a mirror ). Anyway, the technique you used is very impressive- DO say more about it.

Roy Its all about using the airbrush and getting comfortable with it. Tamiya Acrylic paint goes on thin and if its wrong easy to remove or spray over again. My HL panther has had 3 goes at camo and it looks OK now. Look at other forums and they all say if you spray best to use one make of paint as they all spray or thin differently. Learning curve as you have PSI, paint mix ,trigger action and how close to spray so its practice over and over again. I am still learning about the dark art of airbrushing.

Exhausts now will let the paint settle down as i sprayed onto wet paint.

That’s an incredibly realistic rust finish on your exhaust. One of the best results I’ve seen.

The effect looks really cool, what paints tid you use in what order? Just the coverage looks a bit much to me, maybe you could try to cover/filter some areas with some of the base color? I guess that would make it really come together. Although I have some issues with those Flammenvernichter sections myself as well. I have no idea how those looked like after a short running period. The regular exhausts are always reported to have come to a glow by the heat. A quick looK into the Spielberger shows a drawing of the Flammendä,mpfer how they call it. The exhaust turns into a kind of a bucket/cup with the full diameter of the unit, then you have the tubing around it and the flanged section on the top. In your case it also has the hood.
