Heng long truck

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Might only be a small motor but looks like it has power to spare!

Btw the guy who did that video has several other test videos of the truck and I have to say it looks good.

Just took a look at the videos, it has leaf spring suspension, although not much travel, a decent turning circle etc, so yes, a cheap RC truck, but it's not, and was never designed to be, an off road crawler.

The problem with upgrading it is the cost. If anyone wanted a crawler motor, crawler esc, different wheels and tyres, upgraded suspension, tighter turning circle, servo's, sound etc, you are looking at a few hundred £/$ ?

I upgraded one of the Mercedes 6 wheel drive cars, and turned it into an Oshkosh, it cost me an arm and a leg.

If it is left as is, and just used on flat surfaces then great, less stress on parts.

I took a look to those videos and indeed, it does not look bad at all...

Im a bit surprised about one of the video's name: "truck under 20 dollars"

I agree Tom. And the tires look to be quite grippy on that slippery cardboardImage

I still think that most of us will not need it to be real crawler, as this would be support for tanks on display. I will need to have decent suspension, 4x4 or if they make 6x6 would be nice. Some upgrades regarding sound, ESC, some LEDs. So there is potential I believe within our scale as nice addition to tanks.

Or I can see it as expedition truck with some upgrades, but those are mostly in 1/10, so again, this is most probably supposed to hit 1/16 market (where it fits our tank scale).

I think expecting crawler performance out of it might be pushing things. However I think it seems to perform on the rough stuff at least as well as the asiatam blitz 4x4 which is upwards of £300 (and I bet the parts for better!). The most extreme most of us would want is capable of running on grass at shows. From what I've seen it seems to be upto this.

I totally agree with you Iain, it's nice to have something in 1/16 scale that can be converted into support for our tanks that doesn't cost an absolute fortune  at the price of this you can afford to chop it up a bit for conversions lol :D and as Tom just stated most of us will be happy just running it on grass at shows or events so it doesn't really matter to me if it can climb shear cliff faces :haha: I'm planning an M35 6x6 build ( or as close as ) myself, looking forward to its arrival

Cheers, Lee.

I wonder if it would fit under the skirt of the revell big American truck kit? Bringing a modern tank transporter closer to all of us.....
