Cheers for the link.

Adding solutions to your smoke oil is more likely to make the smoke toxic also black exhaust fumes from a petrol engine is not authentic German engines where petrol and would as has been said produce hardly any smoke and if so would be a white colour with a hint of blue, black would be a diesel engine.

To be honest with the amount of PE sets that are going on this tank, and the detailing ive been doing, its hardly ever going to be run outside, mostly for meets, and then I will only have the smoke on to show it. The effect is greater when the tank is running under load as well. The effect i've got is what I want, a burst of smoke when the tank moves, then a much lighter effect with the occasional puff like the engine is slightly misfiring or a gear change.
Cheers,
Rik

Hi Rik your Mrs must be more forgiving than mine if I run my tanks wile she is in with the smoke on she starts reaching for a lump hammer

Excelent smoker.
You could make a seperate tank for more oil that feeds the smoker, seen this done before. Also seen these smokers mounted into a larger resevoir so the smoke oil lasts longer.

As to making the fan work when running in reverse, use diodes like a bridge rectifier so the polarity always stays the same at the fan.

Cheers.
Steve.

You lost me at diode, lol. I know very little about electronics, but if you think it could work then id be willing to give it a try. How would I set it up and what would I need?
The Idea of a tank is good. Id need one that slowly dripped smoke oil into the smoker. I may look into that.  ;DThanks for the ideas Steve.
Cheers,
Rik

I've finally started on the Aber kits I have!  ;D I've never built any PE sets before, so this was all a learning experience. I started easy with the side fenders, which look awesome when there on the tank. They're a bit 'factory fresh' at the moment, but im going to battle scar them once the tank is detailed, so the damage is consistant across parts.

Then I started on the back mudflaps. These were a bit more challenging, the left one was the first one I did, and as you can probably see, came out a bit messy. The right one looks a lot better. But there's nothing some sanding and filing, and a bit of paint wont fix.  ;D

I've found the tip on my soldering iron isn't small enough for some of the tinier parts in some sets, so I need to replace that. Next is the front mudflaps, which look quite a bit more challenging, but should be a mixture of fun and frustration to put together.  :P

I do have some tips to putting together PE parts;

-Always go slowly and carefully
-If you anneal parts, always sand the discoloured bit down again
-Use the flux liquid sparingly, and precisely, and it'll help every time
-Dry fit everything before soldering
-And, always go slowly and carefully! This one is so important it needs to be mEntioned twice!

Cheers,
Rik

I've got two tweezers on stands I use to hold parts in place while I solder. Its still a bit awkward though, lol. I need one of those headband magnifying glasses with a light on, it would help immensely!

The soldering iron I have is fine, the dremmel one is too hot I fear and would warp the brass. I just need a 1mm tip to do the tiny parts.

Cheers,
Rik

Hi Rik . Some craftmanship there mate . Very good I see the exhausts have the mounts for the flaps are you fitting them as I cant see on your picts but on one of the Tiger1 free download pages there was some line drawings / sketches of the exhaust vereations . This showed one with lifting caps , but it also had a secon hole behind the cap mountin hole were what looks like a pin can be pushed in to lock the caps open . This was attached to a length of chain . But its looking good . My Heng Long side skirts I was going to replace with home made brass ones but decided in the end just to smooth down the stock ones so they looked thiner.

All the best Andy
