This is all coming together really well, it's a long haul, but it will be well worth the effort.

Alwyn just superb

will you also be printing off the little horn that mounts on the front hull near the light?

Hi Carl and Soeren, thanks for the good words. I think the horn was a late model feature, I can't find any pics of my early model IS2 with a horn. The only thing they seem to have is the light, and some had it on the left , some on the right of the driver hatch. I think if they wanted you out of the way at that stage of the war then the 122mm was a good way of saying excuse me.........

Moving on to the turret I decided I needed a quick release but secure method of attaching the newly manufactured turret roof so picked this method
A simple lip on the front

and a turnbuckle at the rear
simples!
Next is going to be mounting the barrel

The 122mm barrel for this tank is huge, and I'm prototyping the barrel mounting to find the correct pivot points for the barrel pivot assembly.
I'm trying to replicate the Tamiya barrel mount but it's a little tricky. I'll need to design and print the mantlet before I can get the barrel pivot correct.

Very impressive gun Mr Alwyn. These tanks and IMHO the best gun and muzzle break toward the end of the war. Looks so good on your turret

Coming along in leaps and bounds, Alwyn. I really like your turret roof approach, a great idea for when it comes to installing and maintaining the elevation/recoil assemblies. They're going to need to be strong to balance all that metal!

Hi Raminator, thanks for the good words. My concern all along has been to get maximum and as easy access as possible to the turret because I knew I would have interesting challenges with the gun elevation and recoil

, hence the reason for the large turret drive ring. I'm currently prototyping the mantlet and that's also going to be fairly beefy, so the barrel mounting is going to have to be very accurately positioned, strong, and accessible for removal/adjustment.
Should be lots of fun!
