Hi Dean,

I'm very enthusiastic, you must have very good eyes for such a fine work, good to see at a comparison between the padlock and the hairs at your finger... 8O

There are a few pics showing the padlocks on the tanks. Looks like they were a common thing. Actually the Aber set does come with a key! :D I agree pain in the butt if you lose the key but with those big wire cutters as part of the standard gear no problem to remove!

PainlessWolf wrote:Beautiful work! I don't see any problems with those. It is extra nice that they function but at that size I would share your concern if they were on a tank of mine. Following along.

Although that area should be pretty safe. The Aber sets come with lots of extras so could build some more no problem but they are a pain. Take about 1/2 and hour per latch!

"nowhere near Hotte's or Jeff's level", eh? *chuckles* I love the bolts but were they not recessed into the plate at all?

Hey Painless, I wanted to apologize and correct something. I kept looking and digging and looking again and it would appear that it was the "D"'s that had the raised bolts on the front deck plate. The "A"'s and the "G"'s are slightly recessed. On a couple of museum ones they actually appear pretty much flush. Other opinions or confirmations on this issue welcome! :D

Sir,
You never need to apologize for educational correction. If someone is never wrong, how is anything new learned? The saying, "I stand corrected." is one of my favorites. I had seen those museum Panther photos with the recessed bolts but put it down to inaccurate restoration or some such after your answer to my initial question. Thank you again for the follow up.
regards,
Painless

Thanks for the words guys!
Hi Stuart, not too sure yet but probably a 3 colour with tight definition as that is the best way to show off the zim rather than big bold swatches of colour. I have a couple in mind and maybe will look them up on the weekend to review. Opinions will be welcome! :D

Herman, these are for you buddy! :haha: I just mocked it up. Need to find smaller scale thread for the key. I think I am going to hang it around one of the crews neck after your comments. If I was crew commander and my best beer/vodka/wine was stowed, I'd want the key around my neck! :D

To give you an idea of scale the key is 2mm long... :wtf:
