Just an FYI....just for curiosity's sake... I scaled my SHERMAN.... as I thought she was about 12 lbs.... to my surprise... it was only 8.5 lbs....so in comparison to the stock SHERMAN... which weighed in at a mere 6 lbs... there was a marginal increase in weight... thing is... that two pounds additional..has caused my suspension to sag..down almost an eighth of an inch

YES!...After a little over a month of fabrication.. and remodeling ... Valerie 2 is finished... put the final little details...(no tools yet)... and gave her ..her final coats of paint...Pictures tomorrow should the weather turn out good...

I am looking forward to seeing this tank, Alpha. You have done a thorough and intensive job of rebuilding the HL Sherman into the Saunders Sherman. All my kudos to you for the metal work and taking a hull designed for a static tank and using it as an RC one. Not to mention the heavy duty modding required to turn the turret from one version to another. *Applause* We will see the tank commander as well, one day, I presume?

At about 40% increase in weight its not exactly marginal Alpha.I like that rough cast look.The tanks turned out well I'd say.

OK...Yesterday turned out to be a good day to do some finishing touches on the build...it was cloudy ... so definitely a hobby day ....I needed to replace the springs on the driver and machine gunner's hatches... because I had broken one of the plastic ones off early on...the material was readily accessible ....as all it did to get the correct size of wire was to strip down three electric motors.... one from a RC boat...one from a 1/35th scale RC tank... and one from a helicopter... turned out the helicopter's windings were perfect... wound them around some brass stock I use for the creation of handrails ...sorry I couldn't wait for good weather..so they are painted over
I didn't realize till now how blurry the second photo is.... so the thing inside the green mark that is supposed to be a circle.. is the spring in question

The Turret was next on the list for little detail.... the 50 cal gun clip/stabilizer ...being that the tank had gained so much weight ... things on the top of the turret were vulnerable to breakage...so both the main gun site (the shark fin)... and the stabilizer ... were fabricated from brass and copper...soldered together.... not to mention the plastic stabilizer than comes stock with the HENG LONG was incorrect in shape... and very ugly
mini screws taken from a helicopter were used in the rotor cover ...which received a second plate soldered to the back to make it a tad thicker
The main and secondary antenna bucket/ mounts .... I haven't installed an antenna yet.... as the tank needs a full test run for distance...I already have two internal antennas connected... but I have a hunch the metal body insulates some of the signal... so the main antenna bucket might be filled with a live wire ... for better reception...

That is really a beautiful build, Alpha! I had forgotten that the early Sherman turrets had the 'goalpost' type MG barrel mount, instead of the single-leg one that everybody makes. Good catch on your part. And out of metal, too! You certainly have a knack for working with materials that few of us attempt to build in. It's a shame that you had to paint over all your hard work, but it looks great!!
