Just to say that i went and got the schumo barrel and late gun mantlet...yes I know they are for the tamiya...well, I made them fit!...photos tomorrow. Still a bit of fiddling to do, but it works.
Nic...(who is chuffed that I did not spend the money in vain on a long shot)

Right, here we go....taken two days to sort these photos out...computer keeps telling me low on virtual memory, and its slow!...anyway
over all pic with temp fit
Here you can see whats left of the heng long barrel with a steel bit inserted into the schumo barrel
The two pieces together..have yet to Final fix
Here you can just make out the cut out on the top for the barrel in full incline...in the hole you can make out the small piece of heng long barrel
Another look at the temp fit

Hi again...here you can see how I fixed the mantlet to the heng long turret...first I cut off the two mantlet fixing screw holders as close to the heng long mantlet, screwed them back to the holder, wacked a load of two part glue over the ends and held the new mantlet against the fixing screws until the glue went off(5 mins quick set stuff)...left it for an hour and hey presto still using the heng long fixtures...what you can also just make out is the grinding done to remove the schumo screw holders...(these interfere with the heng long mantlet holder
Re fitted the bits from the heng long mantlet and job done....(plus mantlet stops)

Thank you Jay!....
Just a small mod today....I have been in the garden drinking san gria!
I added the fuel over fill?/air breather? thingy...on the right hand side, cut out the middle bit, used the obligatory paper clip for the pipe, and a small cut off plastic round thing section from the loaders plastic handle(I replaced all my handles with a metal set)

...does the job!
Tomorrow I hope to finish the schurtzen on this side to...I have been lazy, the other side has been done for months

Here I just stuck the right hand side schurtzen holders on...just super glued on for now until I am happy with the positioning, then I will two part glue them into place....I used a piece of string to make a line...then held the running boards up, marked the centre of the holes with pencil on the side of the tank and just whacked them on..
Here I have just laid the tops on...just to check...sorry, crapy photo
